    1. Trump said he could fix the issue. So far, he’s done little others have besides tweet and name call.

    2. They know what we have, and it wasn’t a reminder, it was his usual drug of choice, massaging his own ego while inciting his detractors, and making us look stupid to the rest of the world.

Funny tweet actually. Trump speaks raccoon which is Kim’s first language.

    *wrong*

They got to that point while what you are calling "appeasement" took place.

At about the same pace as they had been going in that direction while being part of Bush's "axis of evil" or now during Trumps pissing contest.

Just because something didn't work doesn't mean that doing the exact opposite will yield positive results.

As an example you should ask yourself what did lead to the relative peaceful breakdown of communist east Europe?

Reagan's "will outlaw Russia forever. We begin bombing in five minutes." or the "appeasement" known as the Helsinki accords......

Yep, it took 20+ years for those to bear fruits, but I don't see any way the Korean issue could be 100% solved in the foreseeable future so playing the long game might be an idea.

It's almost like Trump is "daring" KJU(Kim Jung Un) to fire...

There's no defending this irresponsible tweet. And there's no defending his later tweet in which he's turning the White House into an awards show. He needs to stop thinking he's on a reality tv show/game show.

If we survive this, maybe being demoted will be a good thing for us and the world if it results in us pulling our our heads out of our asses. :(

You say all of this and still say "You need a strong, firm voice to oppose someone like that.". Talk is cheap guy. Since Trump can't do anything he needs to keep his orange mouth shut. Otherwise, he will make a bad situation even worse.

Another myopic summary. NK didn't just start trying to acquire nuclear weapons under Obama. Other countries should have been on our radar years ago (Pakistan comes to mind).

The size of NK's button doesn't matter much when they have an easy target right next door. Did you even consider that?

Alto - there's a difference between someone who can stand up and be strong and a madman.

Also - literally speaking - it doesn't matter if the button is tiny or large. If it closes the circuit, it closes the circuit. Maybe Trump needs a really large button because he has poor muscle control?

Those ascribing some sort of geopolitical strategy to Trump's tweet have not been paying attention to Trump and his pathological need for ego validation. This is the guy who felt it necessary on 9/11 to brag that, with the collapse of the World Trade Towers, one of his buildings was now the tallest building in lower Manhattan (p.s., it wasn't). He's the guy who felt it necessary to respond during a debate about the size of his hands. Now, it's the size of his button. He's a little man who's going to end up killing large numbers of people just to prove that he's important.

That is not the case with NK's recent overture to South Korea. It's appalling that Trump can't view that as a cooling-off opportunity. No, he has to stir the pot and take the oxygen out of the rooms NK and SK want to meet in next week....

Trump remains a clear case of loose cannon yet the GOP leadership stand around gawking at this guy trying to figure do we still need him, when can we cut him loose, shall we try to repeal ACA again first, is Mueller getting too close and what about our internal polling if a high admin official gets nailed... oh well it was just a tweet, let's meet tomorrow to review the situation...

The leadership guys are worse than he is in a way, because they are just as craven but collectively have more competence not to mention every last one of them swore to uphold the Constitution and yet watch this guy trying to burn the edges off any constraints it puts on the high office he becomes less fit to hold by the day now.

True. I bet allies have considered if Trump is a madman or just a fool.

I think he needs to be placated. There, there little boy. You also get a button. A great big button. No one has a bigger button and it's shiny and red just for Christmas.

Trump is a nut cake. There has never been a President with such a poor understanding of the significance of his office. He will be removed from it before his term is up.

The blue wall is coming. Mueller is coming. His supporters, as dumb as they are, are waking up to the reality that they have been duped. The "protest" vote turned into a self-inflicted wound. Healthcare cost is going up, tax scam is going to hurt the poor the most, and now Republicans are coming for entitlement programs. Majority of food stamps, for example, are consumed by white rural Americans - Trump's voting base. That is going away as well. Millions of children, again largely white people in rural areas, are about to lose healthcare without the funding for CHIP - a program that was the crown achievement of Hillary Clinton. Coincidence? I don't think so...

A little side rant. CHIP costs $13 billion a year or there about. We cannot afford it, according to Republicans. However, we seem to have no problems paying out oil and coal subsidies to the tune of $38 billion annually.

Anyway... Trump is a moron and will go down in flames soon enough.

If you're looking to play the blame game, you didn't throw Bush under that bus, or do you not remember the term "Axis of Evil"?

Keep in mind that that escalated things after we saw a unified Korea for the first time in 50 years at the 2000 Olympics. But yeah, it's only Obama's fault, and Trump has done nothing but treat the entire situation like a 5th grade schoolyard bully.

Much of their nuclear/missile progress occurred while Obama was trying to appease the world. They were also hugely underestimated much like our ISIS JV team.

Another perspective is that Kim Jong Un is the "bully" and Trump is calling him on his BS.

Its fun to think that we have 3 more years of Trump for you to whine about.

They both want a war, but neither wants to start it so instead they just act like two year olds throwing temper tantrums.

However Trump’s lack of reliability will potentially help there to be a solution that is more favorable to North Korea since the south now has motivation to agree to a peace treaty on terms favorable to the North since they know they can’t rely on the US anymore.

When we're the one imposing the sanctions then threatening to bomb the hell out of them with the "fire, fury, and frankly power, the likes the world has never seen before", it is hard to take DPRK as the bully.

And that quote isn't from anything left leaning or reputable; that is even from Fox News.

Good for Trump! NOBODY makes a threat against us! Kim Jong Un is so used to Obama backing down and not doing anything, and Trump is defending us.

Voting for him on November 8th, 2016 was the best thing I've ever done to this day.

OBL did. Twice at that. And twice he succeeded. Actually, 3 times, if you count the USS Cole.

So if he does get impeached or worse, can we come back to this quote and give it its fair and true reaction?

Hmm, don't know if anyone succeeded because there are still starving people in North Korea and they still have Nukes!

Of course you can come back to that quote, but it will never happen.

You stated that "NOBODY makes a threat against us!" Osama bin Laden not only did that once, but twice, and succeeded:
    1. He bombed the World Trade Center in 1996.
    2. He bombed the World Trade Center in 2001.
He also ordered the bombing of the USS Cole. That's 3 by my count. Three threats that were acted on, and succeeded. Care to prove those wrong, or is Al Qaeda still "nobody"?

Only time will tell. Granted, I wanted to see him beat by a woman, because that will be a bigger embarrassment to him than any impeachment ever will, but while collusion is one thing on the table for impeachment, conspiracy is also looming.
