Great! It's truly amazing what you can accomplish when you aren't being bankrolled by just about every special interest group out there.

Another ego stroking usless thing singed by trump. Not that I don't agree with it but but as usual it's not worth the paper it's written on.

I'm all for tougher restrictions on corporate lobbying, but considering he hired the president of Citizens United to be his deputy campaign manager, I'd say his position on corporate money in politics is murky at best.

Was it just hot air when Barack Obama signed his two year lobbying ban into effect by executive order? Executive orders have the full force of law. How are they just 'hot air'?

I think you're just surprised that the man is doing everything he said he would.

Should read up on the fine points before getting all excited about the restrictions....

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...-is-both-tougher-and-weaker-than-obamas-rules

Congressional officials are not covered by the order, and the five-year ban applies only to lobbying one’s former agency — not becoming a lobbyist.

“While there are things to like here, it’s disappointing that someone who promised to drain the swamp has torn two loopholes in the Obama [ethics policy] that was so successful,” said Norman Eisen, who helped draft the 2009 order as special counsel to the president.

“Lobbyists can now go to the agencies they lobbied — that’s rife with the potential for abuse,” Eisen added.

I wouldn't have expected it to apply to Congress. Congress has to enact restrictions on Congress. The President can't.

they are law but it does to mean they will happen or are workable.when they require congress to implement.

It doesn't require Congress to implement. His executive order applies to people within his administration.

This would, for instance, prevent someone like Ralph Nader from ever accepting a job as a commissioner of the "Consumer Product Safety Commission".

It's mind-boggling: a president who actually does things rather than a president who simply talks.

And that will never happen. Those power hungry drunks are what's wrong with this country in the first place.

As opposed to obama and clinton who nicely provided the wording for this order?

Just somewhat curious why all our Trump supporters stopped posting about this being a good thing right after I pointed out that he stole text from Obama and Clinton?

He didn't. Obama's was a two-year ban. Trump's is a five-year ban plus a lifetime ban for lobbyists of foreign governments. Obama's order also had exceptions for accepting gifts, Trump's has none. Trump's Cabinet was also not selected by Citigroup.

Looks like Bill Clinton from the date.

Did you know he revoked that order a month before leaving office, making the entire thing useless and forcing lobbying restrictions to fall back onto a substantially weaker law that enabled all of his administration officials to lobby just one year after leaving government?

And Trump still has plenty of time to copy the lifting of the order as well as the text.

Let's criticise Trump if he does that, not before he does it.
