Well, it's pretty obvious that Trump has a different idea about how to deal with Mideast issues than Obama does. But, just to make it clear, he wants to veto a UN resolution on Israeli settlements. Of course, he isn't president yet, but he's doing the next best thing: he's trying to get the current president to do what he wants. From a Politico article:

    http://www.politico.com/story/2016/12/un-israeli-settlements-trump-232913

Hey, who cares about mixed signals? Trump does whatever Trump wants to do, regardless of the consequences.

*Awaits the arrival of the principled "one president at a time" conservatives that were making noise during the Obama transition*

Well, at least for me, this is the first time America has had two different presidents wielding power at the same time. ;)

Not really, it's just that the power of social media makes political pressure a bit stronger due to enhanced popular push. I don't think that Obama will base his last month of foreign policy on Trump's tweets (rightfully so).

Hopefully Obama will do the right thing. Either not Veto or Abstain.

Um, but let me ask, have previous President-elects tried so hard to butt in on the lame duck portion of the guy they are replacing? I don't think it's a question so much of the power of social media, but more the behavior of the guy about to take office...

You tell me how a Veto would be the right thing to do.

Yes, although with less speed due to a different news cycle. A 30 secs search on google:

It wouldn't be. Israel has been shielded by our SC veto on illegal settlements (and the violence that comes from taking the land/demolishing the homes of people that are already there) for far and away too long.

Question, though: It looks here like Obama was making a "personal request" to Bush. Not spamming the media with a demand for Bush to act.

I guess I'm just surprised by how cordial previous transitions have been, though. Trump is doing the same thing other president-elects do, it's just that he's so pugnacious about it that it seems rather new...

Obama was picking up a financial crisis of epic proportion. Since he's certainly an intelligent President, he knew he needed to show continuity and that he needed Bush on board. And Bush, understood the crisis that exploded in his hands, and understood that Obama needed to start strong.

These settlements are illegal according to international law. The people who occupy these settlements are illegal extremist immigrants. Do you support a continuation of these illegal settlements that the majority of countries in this world condemn and oppose?

Trump is rather biased these days due to various reasons.

Let's see if Israel's DicTation to Trump on how America should vote influences Obama's decision.

On Israel: Trump, for the most part, is terrible. Is there some expectation that Obama will not veto? Obama has vetoed, I believe, every “anti-Israel” UN resolution. And Obama just finished the agreement to give Israel nearly $40,000,000,000 over the next ten years. Both Obama and Trump suck ass on the Israel/Palestine issues.

probably didn't require any threats.....el-Sisi is known to be a Trump fan and of course Trump's designated ambassador to Israel is possibly even more of a supporter of the settlement movement than Netanyahu
