The guy is an absolute moron and Republicans in Congress aren’t saying a thing because tribalism matters more than anything now. Oh and the MAGA cult actually agrees with Trump on trade & tariffs.

O.k. so US treasury gets 25% of 575billion as some MadeInChina VAT -> 143.75 billion and than uses 15 billion (aka a bit over 10%) to subsidize farmers and give foreign aid.

    Marx&Engels would be so proud!!

This is the reality: The guy is an absolute moron!!

When is the GOP Congress going to pull their heads out of their collective asses? How much destruction will they allow to hold onto power? I’ll be so happy when their tactic backfires and they are shown the door. But what about those Koolaid drinkers? I think we need to help them in 2020.

The Dolt continues to speak about Tarriffs... and clearly doesn't understand how they work.

Tarriffs are paid for by the consumer. That means for every 1 item with 25% tarif on it, the consumer pays 25% more for that item to pay the Tarif. it's not a tax on the exporting country. it only is a barrier that blocks imports due to the costs associated with them.

if the US is importing 200m more than it exports, thats not necessarily bad either. that just means that it's a net import country. Believe it or not, a country of 300= million people needs to import goods. theres no way that america alone can create all the goods and products internally. It can't magically create natural resources forexample that it doesn't have in it's geographic walls. China isn't suddenly going to stop selling an exporting natural goods and manufactured goods that Americans need because of Tariffs either. all he's doing is making it more expensive to live and driving up the cost of living.

On top of that.US farmers are already extremely heavily subsidized to the point that their products are essentially dumped far below cost due to over-production due to those subsidies. One of the great contentions on the NAFTA renegotiation was allowing US farming dairy into Canada. we don't like that because the US farmers are massively subsidized by the government to the point that US farmers could dump dairy products into the canadian market at pennies on the dollar with no harm to themselves, while Canadian farmers (who are not subsidized) get **** on and driven out of business by the US fed involvement in the farming industry, creating a completely uneven playing field

ON Nafta. I find it also absolutely hyprocitical and hilarious that Trump calls out China for changing the deal and forcing a renegotiation.... lwhen Trump did exactly that to his countries closest Allies by forcing a renegotiation of NAFTA.

the mans a blowhard idiot who doesn't have a clue about the powers he's playing with. Hopefully the policies that were set before him do a good enough job to prevent the economy from truly taking a ****.

What are Republicans going to do when they realize this isn’t a negotiating tactic, it’s all there is. Trump isn’t threatening tariffs to get better deals. He just likes tariffs.

    Nothing

The republicans have hitched their message to Trump, for better or for worse, because while he's a nutjob loose canon, he's their nutjob loose canon. And as long as McConnel can get what he wants out of Trump, than he doesn't care.

Things like a biased republican leaning supreme court for example. McConnel has stated his intention is to setup the Supreme court to be Republican biased for the foreseeable future. As long as Trump can deliver, he won't say boo

As long as Trumps policies don't directly hurt republican politicians, they will not hold him accountable.

Farmers don't want a handout and a capitalist dictator-wannabe shouldn't be trying socialism. Plenty of bad examples of that.

Yeah I'm not sure why we do that, particularly when it doesn't necessarily go to small family farms.

I see Lindsey Graham just tweeted re:China that short term pain is necessary for long term gain and told Trump to stick to his guns. Of all the Trump sycophants I think Graham makes me want to vomit the most.

Welfare is ok if you’re not a black baby momma. I kid you not, I’ve seen racist southerners who don’t work and get food stamps and welfare whining about single mothers and black people getting food stamps and welfare.

This is a stupid trade war that benefits nobody.

This is a vote-buying scheme wrapped up in regressive, failed, 20th century economic policy.

It makes me want to vomit in my mouth.

Trump imagines that he has somehow found billions in free money. The cost is born by every American who buys this stuff because the choice is to pay a 25% premium for Chinese goods or pay for American goods sold by heavily subsidized Americans who have less of an incentive to be cost effective.

Subsidize our farmers.. Sounds like China subsidizing their manufacturers of which Trump complained about before. Again, ok if and when we do it but not ok when others do it. A lot of double standards from Trump these days.

Exactly what I thought. It’s welfare. They don’t like others getting welfare but stick their hand out when they need it.

    It’s not a bailout. It’s WELFARE.

I must admit, I don’t disagree or disapprove of Trump helping farmer or manufacturers in the US but I do disagree and disapprove of his double standards on this where he criticizes others for it but yet does so himself.
