This is basically what proposed funding cuts to NOAA would do. Restrict launching and operations of americas weather satellites that keep us safe from deadly weather outbreaks.

well, obviously the tin-foil hats were deemed insufficient protection from the "bad hombres". Or, just a patent lack of understanding what the NOAA does...

The guy is so paranoid about knowledge and science that he wants to try and stop it. Cutting funding for NOAA will put lives at risk.

Better cut some of those jobs in less important areas quick. I've heard they are going to dump earth sciences from NASA into NOAA as well.

Why doesn't he cut the bloated programs like most of those in defense. I guess he really doesn't care about making america great again. He just wants to see it suffer.

Shocking since he has a lot of beach front golf courses, I don't think he would want to see those destroyed.

The funding slash would hamper NOAA’s research funding and satellite programs while eliminating altogether funding for smaller programs on coastal management and estuary reserve efforts, among others, according to a memo obtained by the Washington Post Friday.

Now that's an objective thread title that squares with the posted article.

"Now back to Wolf at CNN headquarters. This is MacNut reporting live from somewhere near the Arctic Circle for CNN News."

Do you know what NOAA does? And what cutting it's funding would do to weather forecasting?

So you agree that cutting it's funding would be stupid and misguided.

All agencies except military should expect cuts under Trump, he's clearing the gravy out. It doesn't help that NOAA has been seen as a politically motivated agency.

Yes, but it's a Republican gravy train. We are only getting rid of blue gravy this 4 years.

Most of the space programs build projects are in Alabama. Isn't that a red state?

Oh and most of the nations attack subs are build in Connecticut.

But hurricanes make America sad. So if we don't know about them we will be great again!

Sounds to me like a responsible action to save taxpayer money. Whether business or personal, the real world has to cut back once in a while, dig a little deeper and make ends meet. What is wrong with asking the same from your government?

Sure, but cut the waste, not the life and property saving programs. Trump has his priorities messed up about what is useless spending. A trillion on defense is useless spending.

You don't think there is waste in that department? Look around where you work, waste and abuse can be found everywhere.

Only if you actually improve efficiency.

Why don't we start with the military which is notoriously wasteful.

The military has already had many cuts from prior presidents. Go to the well too often and well....you know.
