I just picked up my iMac 20 last night and absolutely LOOOOOOOVE it so far.. I was wondering if there were any other good competitors to the external tv tuner card they offer at the mac store. I believe it was around $200? Or was it 299? Any responses GREATLY appreciated. THANKS in advance, again! :)

a little hard to compare products to...nothing...

el gato makes a firewire (usb as well, but don't bother) tv tuner.

so does formac, i think el gato (having used neither) looks like a more developed product (software looks far better).

EyeTV Firewire with EyeHome would be pretty sweet.

formac's studio tv works for what you need.

the others mentioned might not, except for eyetv. i think they will accept composite connections and such, but have no cable connector. the formac does.

i just got it today, and at the moment i am using it to transfer videos from when i was a kid for my parents (great present). i can not tell you how well the tv tuner works for watching tv, except that in the 4 minutes i have used it, it works great.

got it at club mac for a little less than $300.
