I don't know whether to find this pathetic or just plain sad.

What a f***n dumb country this is being turned into…

I personally believe that all British official business should be carried out in Cockney Rhyming Slang. That would be some funny skit.

The real problem being that many councillors do not comprehend these terms.

... and the dumbing down begins.

Let's not speak in any way that might go over the word limit of the normal Sun reader.

So no words over 2 syllables.

(Bugger, I lost them on the last word!)

Sounds good to me. Public services and the language they employ should be as clear as possible.

I think they should convene an ad hoc committee to debate the matter.

As long as it meets a quorum.

Does this mean the end of quangos? That would certainly be an acceptable quid pro quo.

I'm kind of sad this isn't happening somewhere in the United States, because then, I could use a cherished saying, such as, "If English was good enough for Jesus, it’s good enough for Texas schoolchildren.”

And as for these aging rockers... their time has obviously come. ;)

If we'd had something like that when Clinton was president, we could've banned Rick Santorum.

Pro utilitate hominum, err that's all I know.

If we can add terms like 'doing a delia' to our dictionary then surely we can keep these simple terms.

    No surprises!!!

Local Government employees shouldn't expect anything less. This sort of thing went on when I was a Youth Trainee back in the day. It's classically Orwellian!

In some departments, Civil Servants have "placeholders" marked out on desks for things like telephone, keyboard, stapler, stamp, etc, etc...
I'm not making that up. A close friend works there and has to endure this sort of environment on a daily basis!

UPDATE: This was stamped out in his department when he complained to the Union. The Union threatened to tell the local press. There are photo's somewhere!!!
