Trying to do a factory reset now but my Watch ultra 1 has a 99% battery health and I’m barely making it past 24 hours on Watch OS10.0.1. Ever since I’ve upgraded to watch OS10 it’s been this way.

I have hard resetz
I’ve closed my apps.

I’m currently not working so my notification usage is down at least 50% if not more.

Has anyone had a success with a clean install? I’m at a loss on what to do here as the ultra has been a killer since I got it. Even my Apple Watch 0 which I just retired last year was still getting 18ish hours of battery life.

start with upgrading to 10.0.2 and then check the thread that I referred to above

Well this is a bummer. It says to pair this watch, I need to add my Apple ID but then says the password is incorrect. When I go to the Apple Id section though on my browser it works just fine.

Reboot iPhone

Any chance you’re using the Snoopy watch face?

I love Snoopy, and I love the new watch face. But it definitely drains my Ultra 1’s battery faster than, say, Contour.

Not enough to stop me from using the face when I feel like it. But enough that I probably won’t be using it on a long travel day (just to be on the safe side).

Like reset it? I already tried a hard reboot on the phone a few times with no luck.

No snoopy. It’s just been the same Modular during the day and the Ultra one that turns red at night since I got the watch last year.

Finally got through resetting my phone. I have no clue what’s going on with this watch and why my Apple ID just stopped working. It suddenly triggered my phone to say my Apple ID was incorrect, but again I could log in to the Apple ID login page through a browser.

Apps downloading now so we’ll see if this corrects battery

My U1 is down 20%-30% since the download of the new software.
Before I would rarely be below 70% at the end of 12-14 hours.
After I am lucky to be above 50%.
I use to be excited about these new updates but now they have become a pain in the ass.
It’s like Apple is trying to reinvent the wheel with these updates.

Are you sure it’s charging to 100% at night? I know mine normally charges to 70 ish percent to save battery health. I know it does that based off my usage.

Yeah 100%

Clean install seems to have solved what ever was going on.

Took watch off charger at 8pm last night after clean install, apps all downloaded again. With watch os10 sleeping with the ultra I was losing 30-35% charge.

Today I woke up with 91% left.

Only downside is now the weather complication no longer works. It’s literally just blank. It’s a bummer cause I use the weather complication a lot. It just has a circle and then two “- - “ as a symbol. If I click on the complication, it’ll take me to the weather app which will then update, but the complication will not.

I had the same issue with my AWU 1. I sold it and upgraded to the AWU 2. For whatever reason, battery life is normal on AWU 2 with watchOS 10. WatchOS 10 did something to the AWU 1 which makes no sense. I know everyone can’t afford to upgrade, so hoping Apple figures this out.

I’m hoping so too. I had the Apple Watch 0 until this ultra. I was anticipating this watch would last a long time but this battery issue is concerning.

So far this clean install seems to be promising. 82% 13.75 hours later. 8pm to 9:45 am. But little notification use so far today.

Battery life seems to be holding well. 8pm last night took off charger. Now it’s 1:51 and my battery life is at 72%.

Downside is that my weather app constantly looks like this unless I go into the iPhone location services for weather and change from “Always” to “never” and then back to always.

But I’ve got battery life so that’s something .

That’s easy fix. Go to location and privacy and uncheck and then recheck location. It fixes it.

I do that and it lasts for maybe and hour and then stops working again.

Sad to say, the clean install did not end up working. Battery life is better than before but still significantly worse on watch os10.

By 8pm last night (24 hours later) the battery was down to 45%. By this morning 5:30am the watch was down to 30%. I realize that’s close to the 36 hour mark but it’s still not what I got with watch os9. And if I did a work out I’d definitely be under the 36 hours. Bummer.

10.0.1 here and haven't noticed that battery drain. I've been using my various watches the same way for the past 4 years.

Wake up, 30 min walk listening to audiobook via AirPod Pros, repeat 2 more times during the day.
For the Ultra I can do this for 2 days, charging while watching TV at night.
For the previous watches it was a nightly charge.

Wear it during sleep.

Sad to say looks like I’m screwed.

Last charge 6:51am. 100%.
Last night 10pm. 70%
This morning 7:19am 54%

Weather app still completely useless. I found I can get the complication to work the longest if I hard reset my watch but that only buys me an hour or so..

Watch 10 was such a huge mistake.

Going to have to try to clean install watch os 10 and not do it from backup.

If that doesn’t work I’ll have to do a clean install on my phone I guess. I don’t know.

I read somewhere in a forum that Apple Music and podcasts are notorious for getting stuck with downloads causing a battery drain. So I removed those. That seems to have created a slight improvement in battery life.

Removed from charger: 8am 100%
Now: 5:52pm 80%

Here’s hoping.

I’ve also seen I can trigger the weather complication to stop working by walking away from my WiFi. Seems to be a bug. If I turn WiFi off on my watch the weather complication continues to work. Hoping this means it’s just a bug or 10.0.X.

Turning off Bluetooth both on phone and watch does not fix it. Hard restart on watch or phone does not fix it.

But doing a hard restart on my watch does drop the battery by 2-3% each time.

Yeah my U1 is also tanking on battery, but my brothers U2 is 3 days - he uses less GPS, but still

No luck with the Apple Music and removing podcasts. Unfortunately.

Removed from charger yesterday at 8am: 100%

Today, 3:36pm: 36%.

I also read somewhere that if you take the weather complication and remove it completely from your watch face that may get you back to a good battery life in OS10.

That’s my next step. If that didn’t work, then I’m stuck doing a clean install.

Such a shame. Watch OS 10 bought very little features to take such a big battery hit. I’m currently not working so I’m nervous that when I get back to work and start getting 200 texts notifications a day and about 400 email notifications a day then the watch will be a 18 hour battery life on watch is 10.

Currently getting no email notifications, and barely any texts per day as well as not doing any workouts and getting just barely 30-36 hours if I can.

Removed weather complications. Unfortunately no real change in battery.

5:40am yesterday: 100%
5:40am today: 51%

Again, taking a break from work right now so this battery life is with almost no use on my Apple Watch. It also includes watching a 3 hour movie in theater mode where the screen was completely turned off and no notifications came through.

Clean instal it is. Dang.

I think this might help.

Before this thread I really didn't notice any excessive battery draw, but since my post above I took notice of when I was actually charging and for how long it lasted etc.

It appeared I had about 25% faster discharge than what I remember having (usually I could go almost 2 full days without having to throttle my usage).

I observed needing to charge about 5 hours sooner.

Yesterday I rec'd my new iPhone so I migrated from the old and the watch did its thing, which I think is a reset?

Today it appears it is back to "normal" about 25-30% drain per 12 hour period. AOD on, cellular, 3 daily walks, audiobooks, etc.
