Exactly as the title, I would like to know if it is possible to drive a 3440 x 1440 resolution monitor at 60hz or close to it using an 13" rMBP mid-2014 edition.

I know it supports the resolution as per previous users posts, however, no post has confirmed it runs at 60hz. Can anyone confirm that they run this at 60hz or is it possible to do a calculation that shows it is possible?

Specifically, I am looking at this monitor:

    Dell U3415W

    Thanks all. :)

I think it should be fine. I believe I saw someone confirming using another 3440x1440 monitor on a 2011 machine (though I think that was a 15", and I don't remember the Hz)...

Bear in mind, though, that you won't be able to do it via HDMI on that machine. You'll need to use DisplayPort.

I've read through that 4K monitor and 13" rMBP thread and understand I need to use DP 1.2. I also think it should be fine myself but I hope someone could confirm just so I don't regret the purchase.

Just to update everyone, I can confirm it is working on 60hz at the native resolution for all 13" models from mid-2012 to mid-2014. And of course it will work on the recently released 2015 model too. :)

Hi, sorry for responding to such an old post, but can you share how you accomplished this? I'm trying to get my late 2012 rMBP to work @ 60hz with my u3415w, but the max it will go is 50Hz PAL. I've tried different cables (including the DP to MDP cable that came with the monitor), different settings, etc. but nada. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
