This has been happening for a few days now. anyone else see this? Can’t update OTA to PB4, just keep getting this error. Have reset 3 times. :(

Yes! Exactly the same problem with my 6s. I've tried resetting the phone, changing the beta profile (from public to dev), different networks. Nothing seems to help.

Yeah I just reset network settings and it did nothing. Same error. I successfully updated from PB 1 to 2 to 3 OTA, so this has to be on their end, right? I can’t download app updates again either. Has been happening on and off the past 2 weeks. I wonder if related?

Had the same problem on my 6s+. I found a site that has a download file for the developer beta 5 ipsw and manually updated via itunes. Worked great no need to do a restore. Developer beta 5 is the same as pb4, I'm on pb profile btw.

Do you need a beta version iTunes to do this? I downloaded an ISPW but it will not update on iTunes 12.8. :(

No, hold the option button down and press check for update. Select your file and you're good to go

Yeah, that's what I'm doing, then, it attempts to download something, and says "cannot find update on update server" or something like that. I've install ISPWs before but even after directly selecting the file it still tries to download something.

pm'd you

Edit. After updating to developer beta 5 I still had the issue that the app store wouldn't download updates. I was able to fix my app store issue by downloading developer beta 3 (pb2), which was the last time the app store worked correctly for me, and manually updating via itunes. I then did a ota update back to pb4. Everything is working perfectly, no restore necessary. Hope this helps other with the same problem.

were you able to fix this? I've been stuck on beta 4 and haven't been able to update OTA. have tried doing it via iTunes using ISPW but also getting the "cannot find update on update server" message

Only fix unfortunately was to reset and restore my backup, then I was able to install updates and apps. The bug hasn’t happened since.

Hi as the title says:

I've been experiencing the nasty problem of not being able to update any of my apps or download new ones for the past 8 days now.

I'm also unable to update to the latest PB5 as the software update returns the error that it failed to search for updates.

I've tried:

  • logging out of my icloud account and logging back in.
  • Reboot & soft reset
  • manual time & date to automatic time and date
  • Switch to LTE and enable app downloads (tested smaller than 150mb )
  • Reset network settings
  • Change DNS server in my wifi network
  • test another wifi network
nothing works.

Any help?
How do I update to PB5 and fix the app downloading/updating issue?

Just chiming in to say I was unable to OTA from PB4 to 5, in the end I put my iPhone into DFU mode, set up as new on 11.4.1, installed the beta profile again and that let me successfully install PB5. Then I erased content and settings and restored from backup.

Possibly overkill to DFU but for various other reasons I wanted as fresh an install as possible.

2017 iPad, 128 GB currently on Beta 4. I cannot get my iPad to update to beta 5 or beyond. My iPhone 6S had no trouble, but while my iPad sees the update, when I try to download and install, it tries and then errors out. There is plenty of storage available. Any suggestions? I am not even able to after changing ISPs and WiFi routers... (unrelated to the problem, but I waited to see if it made a difference.)

Seems to be a problem affecting a sizeable minority. I had this before and resolved by doing a DFU > set up as new > install beta profile and update > erase content and settings > restore backup

Make a backup to iCloud or iTunes.
If you can download the ipsw file do a option+restore in iTunes and use the ipsw to restore and select your backup in the setup.
If you can’t download the ipsw file use GreyOS’s instructions

Did you find a solution?

This happened to me and was driving me crazy. Ended up doing an iCloud backup and just wipe and install, and everything has been running great since. I also tried all the network settings, etc. but figured it was device specific as my iPad had no issues updating apps quickly on the same networks on the exact same beta(s).

I was back up and running surprisingly quickly, and it didn't have to wipe/reset my watch this time. The only annoying part about restoring is re-adding all the cards to apple pay. But having the apps re-download and sync was no issue after painstakingly watching apps take 30+ minutes to update during the week or so I was having the issues.

I'm hoping I am able to perform this exact task when I get home today. I did an icloud backup prior to updating to iOS 12, but from what I can see my phone backed-up last night (I have automatic back-up turned on I believe). From what I have read, this making reinstalling a pain in the ass. My last iTunes back-up was in November, I believe.

I didn't have to do an itunes backup. I just did an iCloud backup right before the wipe.

The only other thing I realized was that the photo library also didn't sync for the several days I had the issue. I airdropped those to my iPad so I wouldn't lose them.

I then just did the "erase all contents and settings", and it came back on as a "new" iphone (still on the same iOS 12 beta), only this time the restore (using the backup I made a few minutes prior) completed and everything was fine after syncing. I did have to reinstall the beta config file from the beta website, but was a very smooth process overall, and OS updates and app updates have all behaved appropriately since then
