Tried to install the iOS 4 upgrade today on my iPod Touch 2G and things were going smoothly, albeit taking a bit long.
At the end of the process I got an error saying "An Error Occurred while restoring this ipod (-34)" (screen grab here: http://twitpic.com/1yshie )
I figgured it wouldn't be a big issue so I booted up my iPod to find that no non-app (music, videos, photos, etc) had been synced. Apps appeared to be there but trying to launch any non-default app results in the app crashing before it even loads.
If I plug into iTunes it informs me that the restore hasn't been successful and asks if I'd like to try again, which results in the same error.
I guess I could force a restore but it asks if I want to make a back up first, which I'm hesitant to do as I'm guessing it would erase my backup from iPhone OS 3 which WAS working, and not only that I dont want to lose all my progress/settings in the games/apps I have installed in the past.
Any suggestions?
I guess on the plus side, this time the upgrade was free...
