I've downloaded the update 5 times. Each time, it downloads to watch in its entirety, and then says on my phone it cannot verify the download because there is no internet connection. Then it starts over, re-downloading the os2 update.

I've rebooted, restarted - I clearly have an internet connection. This is getting out of hand...

any ideas to try?

It did that to me once. No error message but got stuck at verifying and then started over.

1. Reset the watch back to factory.
2. Pair Watch to phone.
3. Reload Watch backup.
4. Place Watch on charger.
5. Rerun update.

This happened to me. I double clicked the home button on my phone, and exited all of the apps. Then open up watch app and redownload and it worked.

When you say reset watch back to factory-I erased all content and settings and set it up as a new watch. Still had same issue with unable to verify due to lack of Internet connection.

Just got it again! Ugh. So frustrating. I'm clearly on the Internet.

I feel your pain. I went through the download process about 8 times last night. I ran across a thread on the magical web (what I posted earlier) and did it to the T. Complete with putting it on the charger and restoring a backup. I'll see if I can find that link again and post it here.

I found it...

Step 1. First of all on Apple Watch, Erase All Contents and Settings, this step is basically for the get back apple watch it came when it first time arrived from Apple. Then go for Step 2.

Step 2. Now, Pair the Apple Watch again to the iPhone.

Open the Watch app on iPhone and Pair it to Apple Watch.

Step 3. If you’ve watch backup then, you can restored it from the back up.

Step 4. Put your Apple Watch on the Charger in proper way.

Step 5. Now, open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone and tap the Update button for your Apple Watch.

For many including myself it's a glitch with the watch app on the phone. Shut down all apps and restart the phone then launch the watch app again. Once we did that the process proceeded normally albeit for a long time.

Un-pairing or erasing everything on the watch may work, for many it did not, but you will lose a lot of data and may be worse off than before. But if you've tried absolutely everything else then you may have nothing to lose. But do not do this as a first step.

Thanks all. I am a

Following this now-downloading is a little faster today: abut 65 mins.

If this is what it takes to update, then there's a serious problem with Apple's deployment.

I am stuck at the verify stage, too. I'm surprised that nothing has appeared on the MacRumors home page about this. It appears that many people are having this problem.

If you've been able to download the update, but it gets stuck on "verifying", before taking the drastic steps of resetting anything, try exiting Watch App on your phone by the double click home button method, then reboot your phone. While that's resetting, reboot your watch too. Then once both are back up & running, relaunch Watch app and click software update. May take a second attempt from there, but a single reboot of each device should clear it up and then get past the verifying stage quickly and on to installing.

No, unfortunately, I (along with several posters) cannot even get to the verifying stage: it just says there is no internet connection so it cannot (begin) to verify. But, there is clearly a viable internet connection.

Had the same problem earlier. Can't call this a fix for sure but once I put both phone and watch on their chargers it finally worked. Took 3 hours but it worked.

Coincidentally during that time my VPN connection from my computer to my company dropped and would not reconnect. It started working again after the d/l and verification.

I FINALLY got it working. Even though I had done these steps before, I followed them one by one and it WORKED.

1. On the Watch: Go to General --> Settings --> Reset --> Erase All Content and Settings

2. Let the Watch reset back to basically the state that it came in when it first arrived.

3. Pair the Watch again to the iPhone: Open the iPhone app and pair it to my Apple Watch.

4. Restored my Watch from the back-up.

5. Put my Watch on the charger.

6. Opened the Apple Watch app and applied the update from my iPhone.

It is installing now. I did erase all contents and settings because I knew I had a backup (step 4). But it is installing right now...The only difference this time on the screen was at the end of the download, my watch was on the charger, and the screen was active. Immediately jumped from downloading to preparing to verifying and now installing without a hitch.
