Trump signs bill imposing sanctions on Russia

Interesting turn of events! POTUS Trump isn't in control any more. He has essentially caved in to pressure from (bipartisan) Congress, signing a bill that he didn't want to sign. He is now forced to do things he and his base don't want to do.

Or maybe The General put a gun to his head and said: "Sign it, NOW! Or I'll pistol whip you so hard, your toupee will fly from the West Wing to the East Wing."

He's tweeted less too. Maybe he's in a time out.

He had no choice, if he didn't sign Congress would have overridden his Veto. He did it to save face of a potential embarrassment.

Well in the face of the investigation and the fact that the bill passed by a VETO proof majority, he was pretty much painted into a corner. He had to sign it, vetoing it would have created a bigger story. Then we'd have 72 straight hours of CNN analysis and coverage of him vetoing the bill. People running around with their hair on fire on the set.

Glad everybody feels better now the law is in effect. Even though it doesn't do anything and makes the situation worse.

If Trump had not signed off on the sanctions, it clearly would have been evidence of collusion with Putin.

Now that he has signed off on the sanctions, it's even more obvious that he is in collusion with Putin.

Cute. The two are not related. Whether he signed off has not baring on whether or not he is in bed with Russia

I remember when Obama and the democrats patronized Romney for claiming Russia was our greatest geopolitical threat.

Democrats are pathetic opportunists whose foreign policy seemingly depends on who occupies the White House. Sad!

Well for one - that was 6 years ago. Second - Who said Russia was our Number 1 geopolitical foe? Can you source a Democrat that has said that?

No but it's obvious someone explained that he didn't have the votes to sustain a veto.

The same thing is in reverse; the Republicans talked a lot about Russia prior to Trump's controversy, now they seem to not want to discuss it at all, its the press that is pushing the issue. It's a problem on both sides. However, I'd say hypocrisy on both sides of the aisle would be dimmed if the president would speak out and show some outrage over the Russian hacking. He shows more contempt for late night talkshow hosts and news anchors than he does a foreign country intervening in the election.

His administration is long past embarrassment territory.
