uneven amounts of ram in each slot

    Hey I am just about to upgrade my macbook which is as follows

    Model Name: MacBook
    Model Identifier: MacBook2,1
    Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
    Processor Speed: 2 GHz
    Number Of Processors: 1
    Total Number Of Cores: 2
    L2 Cache (per processor): 4 MB
    Memory: 1 GB
    Bus Speed: 667 MHz
    Boot ROM Version: MB21.00A5.B07
    SMC Version: 1.13f3
    Serial Number: 4H7045JGWGP
    Sudden Motion Sensor:
    State: Enabled


    I am looking at the following ram

    which i believe is good however i do remember reading that there were disadvantages to having unequal amounts of ram in each slot is this correct and what are the disadvantages?

    It just won't run dual channel mode. I'm not completely sure if it will use 2.5GB correctly, you may just want to buy two of those

    so ideally its better to have two of the same ram but either way i should see a performance boost correct?

    Thats good to hear so I guess i just have one more question

    would u recommend the 2gb bit of ram in one slot matched with the 512mb

    or

    two slots of 1gb ram?

    so which brand of ram is best

    Hey there guys so im buying some ram for my old macbook

    IM here

    my question is which brand of ram should i go with i know very little about ram

    im getting to 1gb sticks

    and am choosing between :
    otherworld computing
    micron
    samsung

    what would u recommend?

    The way dual channel works is that if you put in 1gb in one slot and 2 gb in another you get dual channel on 2 gb and not on 1gb. In Canada, I recommend CanadaRam.com

    Btw, your mb will take 3gb max.
