The fog or war again. We're very lucky that no Russian advisors were killed in this air strike. However, it's inevitable that the US & Russian forces inadvertently clash at some point. Congress needs to do it's job and declare war or cut all funding for operations in Syria. If they do nothing, let's at least publicly admit that they are ignoring the U.S. Constitution.

Russia has called for an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council, which is about it start. This could get interesting.

Everybody knows they did this on purpose. They want ISIS to advance and weaken the Syrian Government.

It’s good that this is being openly called what it is: Coalition protecting their terrorists.

UN security council to hold emergency meeting on US air strikes in Syria

    https://www.theguardian.com/world/2...-syrian-troops-killing-62-and-wounding-dozens

The US envoy to the United nations, Samantha Power, said she regretted loss of life in the Syria airstrike, but said the Russian call for the security council meeting was “a stunt”.

Earlier on Saturday Russia’s ministry of defense said coalition planes had killed 62 Syrian soldiers, wounded 100 more and allowed Islamic State militants to gain an advantage through the strike.

“We are reaching a really terrifying conclusion for the whole world,” she said, according to the state-owned news agency. “The White House is defending Islamic State. Now there can be no doubts about that.

“We demand a full and detailed explanation from Washington. That explanation must be given at the UN Security Council.”

I would hope that the White House isn't defending ISIS, I would hope it was due to ineptness. At this point I don't which scenario is worse. It is quite clear that the US has no strategy.

It wasn't deliberate. Samantha Power was practically hysterical before the U.N. meeting. However, it does demonstrate how dangerous our Syria policy is vis-a-vie Russia. Dangerous, and completely ad hoc.

Clinton isn't in office. She has absolutely nothing to do with what is going on there now. She is not omnipotent. If you want to hang this on Obama and inept military leaders, fine. I'll be right there with you. But until she takes office January 20th, Hillary isn't controlling what happens within Syria right now.

Obama and CIA are—and have been—arming al-Qaeda, to weaken and attempt overthrow of the Syrian government. Obama and CIA have been arming the terrorists who have been killing Syrian Army soldiers. Coalition bombing Syrian Army, after years-long Obama/CIA/Saudi/Israeli conspiracy, is nothing to them.

Yes, I know that. It's still a lot of people's goal since he is the source of many of the problems. If he stays in power and keeps gassing his own citizens, how does the situation improve there? How does the refugee crisis end?

But still, none of what happens there today or tomorrow is in Hillary's control. Not until January 20th. After which you can complain about her handling of it then. Assuming she even wins.

No kidding. Everyone should search "Syria TOW" in YouTube and they'll find hundreds of videos of Syrians destroying tanks with U.S. TOW missiles. Who are these people? Whose tanks are exploding? We don't know. All we have is the administrations promise that only "the good guys" receive these weapons. We're pouring millions of dollars of weaponry into Syria, essentially pouring gasoline on a fire.

Yes, I usually watch newly released battlefield footage at zerocensorship and what you say is correct. Seemingly countless U.S.-made TOWs being fired by al-Qaeda, ISIS, and other similar such jihadists. Gee, I wonder how they obtained those and where they received their TOW training?

Don't be so quick to assume that because it looks like a TOW, means that it is a TOW. Toophan.

No dummies, those Persians. They made good use of Saint Ronnie's little gift to the Ayatollah Khomeini. However, most of the videos are in such good HD that you can read the U.S. markings.

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense considering Iran’s fighting on the Syrian Army’s side and is trying to kill the Sunni jihadists (ISIS, al-Qaeda, and others) that are firing the TOWs.

Earlier today, prior to U.S.-led coalition airstrikes, 1,000 soldiers arrived.

[Exclusive] Over 1,000 elite Syrian Army soldiers arrive in Deir Ezzor

    https://www.almasdarnews.com/article/exclusive-1000-elite-syrian-army-soldiers-arrive-deir-ezzor/

DEIR EZZOR, SYRIA (3:45 P.M.) - Al-Masdar News was given exclusive information on Saturday, regarding the recent arrival of over 1,000 soldiers from the Syrian Arab Army's Republican Guard in the Deir Ezzor Governorate.

According to a military source from Damascus, over 1,000 newly trained soldiers from the Syrian Arab Army's 105th Brigade of the Republican Guard were deployed to the Deir Ezzor Governorate after spending several months training in Deir ‘Attiyeh.

Yes and lives were saved by making Assad destroy his stocks. That said at this point Assad isn't going to be removed so what has he got to lose?

Good idea. They need to improve communication.

    Why?
    --- Post Merged, Sep 18, 2016 ---
I agree. However I'm not sure what would be a good strategy.

If the next president doesn't know where Aleppo is, maybe he will not bomb it.
