Unlocked 1.1.4 version upgrade to 2.0

Hi,
Forgive me but I am new to this. But I have iphone version 1.1.4 (4A102) UNLOCKED. My question is if I attempt to upgrade to the new 2.0 version, are there any dangers in doing this? More importantly would it brick my phone? Would I lose any data? Should I sync my phone to itunes before I attempt the 2.0 upgrade to avoid losing data such as contacts etc? I really would like to get AIM on my phone and possibly an application to make ringtones. Any help is appreciated. Thanks JO

It will put it back in an unlocked unactivated state. It wont delete anything as iTunes saves all your info.

And as for AIM, use Fring or Meebo.
