Okay so I've been reading about swift unlock. I'm find with paying the $3. Few questions I'm trying to figure out though. Do I need to be out of my contract first? Also I've been reading about using another sim. Is it necessary to have another sim from another carrier?

Only reason to have another sim is to test the unlock. I used them...worked fine. Got the "Congratulations, you're unlocked!" from iTunes after a restore.

Worked great... They had it done in about 3 hours... Hopefully I can sell it now and get close to enough to cover the cost of a new 64G 5S (w/contract).

Will swift unlock work with a new 5S locked to AT&T?

Great, thanks... I noticed on their site that it says you need to put in a sim from a different service provider than AT&T when doing the restore. Is this really neccesary? What would happen if I did the restore with the AT&T sim in the phone?

you are reading the instructions wrong...

you can keep the at&t sim inside restore it, get the itunes msj, restore it from backup and enjoy.

You don't have to Connect the phone to iTunes or restore it. You just put the new sim from the other carrier and then on your iphone it will say activation required and then it will check with Apple servers if it's unlocked, and if it is it will read your SIM card. Did this on 3 5S,s
