I think it's kind of pointless to do that. People tend to check their heart rate while exercising, something wearable such makes more sense in that instance (ie; apple watch).

Yup noekozz, i think it useless for fitness activities too , but for "security activities" it's cool, like verify the finger in sensor is a real person finger or a fake rubber or wax finger.
 
Granted Samsung did enable a heart rate sensor monitor on their Note 4's back it was not necessarily pointless, but was rarely used. In Apple's case of having the monitor underneath the display offers the feature to users. For those who don't are not forced. It'll be unnoticed
