I have a 3-year-old iMac 800Mhz. It runs Jaguar nicely. But after the Firmware Update that allows me to only burn at 1x (for DVDs) I thought about upgrading it. It wasn't a huge deal. But now I'm wanting more speed (at least 4x burning). Can anyone give soem insight on what drives, and how to install? On ebay I've found some Pioneer DVR-A05s and DVR-A07s.

I am NOT new to computers. I've built a couple Windows boxes, and I know my way around the guts of computers.

I've heard about needing a Windows computer to upgrade firmware on the drives, and I have one if need be. (A Windows computer).

I do not want to upgrade the Hard Drive currently, because I have plenty of space (around 30GB out of 60GB).

    Thanks in advance!
