In an interview with Breitbart News, published on Sunday, Grenell said he was “excited” by the rise of far-right parties on the continent and wanted “to empower other conservatives throughout Europe, other leaders.”

“Grenell, a former Fox News pundit whose abrasive Twitter style had already alienated many Germans, tweeted on Monday that it was “ridiculous” to suggest that he would endorse candidates or parties, but stood by his claim to Breitbart that Europe, like America, was “experiencing an awakening from the silent majority — those who reject the elites and their bubble. Led by Trump.”

Good thing our electoral systems do not augment the power of fringe groups

I doubt they are a majority. That said I do think that Europe has suppressed its right wing and papered over a lot of internal divisions, and we are now starting to see the cracks reemerge as the European system gets put under strain from various factors.

Germany will expel him if they have any inkling he's dicking around in their politics.

He was a very stable genius. Everybody said he had a high IQ. And when he talked, all the good, hard working folks (VERY FINE PEOPLE) stopped doing whatever it was that they were doing, and they listened, and it was beautiful.

Well, Jacques Barzun was pretty smart and had one of the greatest PC culture quotes of all time.

Political correctness does not legislate tolerance; it only organizes hatred

You should watch Ace Ventura 2. I hear it's one of the greatest movies of all time.

brainyquote is the Pinterest of salons; it destroys context on an industrial scale.

70 odd years ago a far-right movement packed people up like him and sent him to the camps. Maybe he wants to be in a slave labor camp?

I guess he’s okay with it as long as it happens to others.

I see you're familiar with "Do as I say, not as I do."

I gave up my European citizenship to work in US government. So while Mr. Grenell's demeanor hits close to my heart, I can't say I care too much because it's Europe's problem as a whole now.

At the time, it was encouraged (see:asked of you) if your position required some level of clearance. This was pre-9/11, so I'm sure things are more strict now. Most countries at the time didn't recognize how US citizenship and renouncing of foreign citizenship worked. Some still don't. I was naturalized long before applying anyway.
