Good to see this giant waste of money end. I just wish we would have recognized the strategy's failure a long time ago. We knew that the numbers they were training were low, but after reading this article I was surprised about how bad the numbers actually were.

Hopefully this is the end of Obama's neocon ambitions. Meanwhile, Putin is on Syrian ground taking care of business. Let Russia wallow in this quagmire.

With Russians there we can't really step in and do anything anyway. Russia is fighting on the other side and we really don't want to start a war with Russia.

Good. All we have to show for the billions spent on "training" the Iraquis and Afghans; are a bunch of gutless cowards who dropped their weapons, equipment and uniforms and ran away like in Mosul and Kunduz.

I've heard some of the Republican candidates talking about standing up to Russia in ways that would likely lead to war. But I agree with you, most sane people don't want a war with Russia.

Unfortunately I'm not sure that the majority of people in the leadership of either party are all that sane.

I guess, now US will train 'moderate IS rebels' as a logical consequence? ;)

Well ISIS isn't much more extreme than the rest of the opposition.

I don't want us to fight without a coherent plan we've not really had one for the last 15 years and that's the cause of most of our current problems

only Bernie Sanders & Rand Paul have opposed the wars, the rest are more than happy to stay at war.

Yep, but if either one of them gets elected president they will have a hard time getting their own party to go along with them let alone work across the aisle.

I'll take 4 years of congress not getting anything done any day my friend, when they get things done all they seemingly do is stick it to the peoples rights and continue their never ending bombing.

I think we all knew that Syria would turn into Afghanistan 2.0 as soon as the Russians dropped their first bomb.

Yeah I saw that this morning. This is probably a worse option than the last one. And I would bet most of this money will end up with ISIS or their allies eventually.

It's not just this administration, funding our future enemies has been an American tradition for quite awhile.
