I found this slideshow that's pretty cool. It shows some of the weapons in use or being delivered soon. It looks like there will still be a main force of humans on the ground, but they are going to have all sorts of "mules" to carry all thier gear and firepower. So I guess theoretically, you can have like one soldier carry 20 or more rockets by himself while he can just like stroll about in hiking boots and maybe just his rifle. And maybe have some other little robot scout arround.

How do you think this will change the way we fight? This pretty much turns one man into a tank...except without the armor so he can't like run into the middle of a bunch of enemies.

    Discuss. :)

Maybe one day we'll have to register our computers for the selective service.

Probably going to result in the army needing a lot more field mechanics/engineers to fix these things when they break.

I couldn't find the relevance and was about to close the video. Then I saw the ending and it gave me a good chuckle.

Could you image a BSOD panic during war? I'm sure the first round draft would be all unibody macbook pros.

hehe yeah, that would be hilarious.

Actually though I think they do mostly use Windows though. Most of these military documentaries I've seen that has some computer in the background seem to have that "Start" menu or other Windows signature. Lots of Panasonic Toughbooks and WinCE UPS-like handhelds. I heard about "iPhones" being investigated because they are so popular with soldiers but so far I've never come across a real implementation but you never know what they are really doing.

Here's a pretty cool vehicle company that makes automated patrol cars. And I remeber seeing them looking for like Windows technology programmers and such in the beginning.

But I'm sure surfing for porn and potentially downloading viruses ia a court marshallable offense. :D
