Hello, not too long ago today, I suddenly received the same message on all my device, “use this device to reset your password.”

I did nothing to initiate this. Is someone trying to hack into my devices or account?

what exactly would prompt this message?

Have you had to input your Apple ID recently on one of your devices? If so, did it take you 3 or 4 tries to get it correct? If so, you would have seen a smilier message. Nobody is trying to hack your device or account.

Nope.

I defintely was not entering my Apple ID anywhere anytime prior to the message. The message just suddenly popped up.

So that message would appear if it took 3 or 4 times to get it correct….but I didn’t even try to enter it anywhere:(

Sounds like some is trying to change your password. Good news is, by clicking "Don't Allow", they can't change the password.

This has happened in the past.

After click "Don't", on your Apple device of choice, Settings > Your Apple ID Name > Password & Security > Change Password to be safe.

Also, if you have reused your Apple ID password for any other accounts, apps, or devices, you should change the password in all those places immediately.

Okay, good to know. Thank you.

I’d say you’re safe then. SInce you got a prompt to reset the password and not a regular 2FA authentication code, the person trying to access your account only had your Apple ID email address not your password anyway

Oh, good :)

that’s part of what I was wondering as well. What information did they have, or exactly what did they do that would give That message On my device?

Since I know my password, and have never triggered that myself, I don’t know what all they were trying to do, or what information they had.

Now I think someone has actually hacked my account, and were somehow able to bypass 2 factor authentication.

I am sitting in my church lounge preparing for the new church computer to arrive (it hasn’t come yet), and I received a notice on my iPad that someone has just used my Apple ID and phone # to sign into a new computer. I had no option to deny it, and no verification code appeared on either my iPad or iPhone :(

I logged into my Apple ID, and I don’t see any devices in the list that should not be there.

I need to check the MacBook Air that is listed to make sure a hacker didn’t delete mine and put their own in there, but I left my computer at home while I am waiting for the new computer at the church

There's a chance it's a false alarm. But to be safe, change your password

I actually figured out what happened, I think. Last night after I got the message on my devices, I turned on my old 2011 MacBook to check to make sure it didn’t have any security updates.

it’s possible that the “new device“ was that one, and somehow I didn’t get the sign in message until today?

I've experience that happening myself in the past, so I'd say that seems likely. :)
