Hi All,

The Iphone SE 2020 is awesome as a hotspot for the ipad and Work laptop.

However, using a Wi-Fi Channel analyser app I see that the iPhone always does its Wi-Fi on channel 6. This is congested in my neighbourhood with other households on the same channel.

Is there a why to change the channel on the iphone?

Hope you can advise

Regards
Martin

Based on what I've read on Stack Exchange, you can't change it yourself, but you may be able to try these steps as suggested by the one of the posters of that discussion. I can't vouch as to the validity of this info though.

"Whilst you can't enforce a specific channel on iOS, it does attempt to select the best channel for the situation. I have found that a combination of standing directly next to the router and enabling/disabling Personal Hotspot until you get a channel you want seems to work well enough.

Alternatively, if you have control of the router, you could simply change the channel of the router to be 'out of the way'.

As well as this, if you have dynamic channel switching enabled on the router, turning on Personal Hotspot then standing next to the router for a bit should make the router change channel for you."

Thanks N,

I’ve read the link, its an old one. hoping that apple can sort that out with these later IOS’s.

My Iphone always does Channel 6 regardless

Yes, that thread is 4 years old, but some of the suggestions may still be valid if you have a mind to try them.
