MOD NOTE: Posts originated here: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1442568 Spun off into their own thread since the topic(s) diverged quite a bit.

You got it twisted. If Romney goes by Obama's failed track record which will be based on facts, Obama will be the one to tell the truth or lie....

As for Ron Paul. He was a hit and miss for me. He had some good views and some bad… Since Romney is now the presidential elect, I would love to see Ron Paul work with Romney’s administration if elected. We need someone to fight the IRS & Federal Reserve and Ron Paul is the guy for that.

But please, Ron Paul supporters you need to VOTE! Sad to say for the ones that support Ron Paul, Romney is the closes person to him and if you decide to not vote, Obama will have a better chance at winning. Something Ron Paul doesn’t want to see happen. Here, this guy says it best

How exactly is Mitt Romney an improvement? I just don't see any positives he has over Obama.

Edit: I don't like Obama. Hell no. But I just don't see Romney doing any better. Only worse.

I'll give you a couple.. My house was worth $230,000 brand new 2 years ago and now it worth $160,000. Defense sequestration that Obama will be responsible has not only my-self but thousands of aerospace/defense workers scared of losing our jobs. Look it’s not like he’s making only MY life hell. He is killing America and giving us a bad reputation. His believes are disgusting and WRONG! His foreign policy is also pathetic. Israel is on the verge to start a war with Iran and Obama and his administration are doing nothing to stop it. When that war starts then you will know what I mean by "hell" because it will affect you and me… 4 more years with him in power is going to ruin this great nation... Besides all that, How can you support Ron Paul but vote for Obama. The two don’t even like each other.

    Failed track record? right.

All we've seen from the Romney campaign is lie after lie after lie. He still can't make up his mind on some issues.

    http://www.patheos.com/blogs/slackt...-lies-in-30-weeks-steve-benen-documents-them/

Ron Paul is an idiot if he supports Romney. They are nothing alike.

Our economy was in extremely bad shape from the previous administration when President Obama took office. That's not something that can be turned around overnight. We are starting to see the signs that it's turning around now, but it's going to take a couple more years. The stock market has been going up. Unemployment has been going down. Real estate values will start to come back within the next couple of years. We're on the right track now, but this is something that takes time. Replacing him with someone who is going to just revert us to the old policies that caused this problem in the first place is NOT the solution!

He's already ended one of the needless wars for money started by the previous republican administration, and is working towards ending the other in the next year and a half. He saved our auto industry. And he killed Osama bin Laden.

What exactly does he believe that could be classified as disgusting and wrong? He believes that all Americans should be able to get health care and an education. He thinks you should be free to practice whatever religion you want, marry whomever you want, and make private healthcare decisions on your own. He also believes we shouldn't be giving more tax cuts to millionaires while the middle class suffers, and that women should be paid the same as men for the same work.

I'm not seeing anything bad in there.

Our Country’s economy is in the crap hole. Obama hasn't done anything to make it better during his first term. He actually made it worse. 2x's worse than Bush did. Romney will be right for the Job. He has a proven track record. While Mitt was a Governor, He eliminated a $3 billion deficit without borrowing or raising taxes. By 2007, at the end of Mitt's term, the state had accumulated a $2 billion rainy day fund in its coffers. This stringent fiscal discipline provided an essential backdrop for economic recovery. While Mitt was in office, the state unemployment rate fell from 5.6% to 4.7% and the Massachusetts economy added tens of thousands of new jobs.

Have you thought about putting in a kitchen work island? They are in vogue and might push the price back up. Consider a kitchen island.

    1. It goes both ways! They both lie. It's politics. I’m not saying Mitt Romney speaks truth 100% of the time.
    2. Ron Paul doesn’t fully endorse Mitt Romney True. But he sure in hell doesn’t Support Obama.
    3. Yes Bush got us in a bad spot. He had two wars under his belt, what do you expect? Obama also knew what he was getting himself into… Sorry but 16 Trillion in debt and counting is no sign of a turn around. Adding jobs has gone up yes, But so has EBT (food stamps) And boy oh boy does he keep wasting American tax dollars to feed the lazy because he doesn’t want people to believe hard work pays off. What a slap in JFK’s face.. BTW as more fast food chains and other minimum wage jobs get created every day, wouldn’t it piss you off if you were coming from a $25.00-$35.00 an hour job then got laid off and now your making $7.00 an hour working at burger king? Because that what’s happening.
    4. My wife works as a loan specialist at Bank of America home loans and she would be dying in laughter if read about the housing market going back up in two years. Sorry man, with Obama in office that won’t happen and he’s already proven that… How do you know Romney will revert us back to old policies? You haven’t given the man a chance!
    5. I must say I’m very proud of Obama for sticking to his guns and stopping the war in Iraq. But for the love of god stop saying he killed Bin Laden. Our military did. Not him. He gave the ok. Something Bill Clinton should have done multiple times during his 2 terms. BTW Biden was against the Bin Laden raid… Congrats to GM, the government now owns them.
    6. Obama calls himself a Christian. He now believes Gay marriage is ok and approves Abortion. As a follower of Christ, It’s disgusting and embarrassing to the Christian faith to hear him say he has evolved and now accepts it on National TV. Hmmmm that’s a good way to get the Gays/young women’s vote. It makes him sound so desperate.
    7. Nothing was wrong with Medicare. He wants you to believe there was. But to force you to buy his Obama care? LOLOLOLOL not even the IRS will punish you for not buying it because they know it’s socialist and wrong.
    8. He heavy taxes people/businesses that make $200,000 and more a year. I’d be pissed because where I live. $200,000 is not rich. It’s more upper middle class. His number needs to go up.
    9. Education funding, Obama supports it. What do you know, so does Mitt Romney!
    10. Mitt Romney also believes women should have the same rights/pay as Men do if doing the same job. Come on. Be real.

***Sorry VenusianSky if i ruined your topic. I’ll be posting in "All things Mitt" if anyone wants to continue Obama vs. Romney discussion***

Lots of Christians are OK with gay marriage and are pro choice. You don't have a monopoly on your religion. As a matter of fact, many Christians would find you an embarrassment. "Christians" like you claim to be all about "love". Well, your "love" hurts. You don't know what the word means. You do know what the words "power" and "control" mean though. That's what you really mean when you use the word "love".

And what's wrong with gay people being able to get married? How does that hurt you?

We were losing 700k jobs per month and were just beginning to see the true depth of damage the Wall St. shenanigans had created. The entire credit industry had locked up and liquidity was gone. Businesses couldn't use lines of credit, they couldn't make payroll or buy supplies, and the economy was in freefall. Today, the stock market is doing as well as it was before the crash. We have had 4.5 million jobs created. Foreclosures are beginning to clear the market. Lending is up, interest rates are low, mortgages are being bought and sold (improving liquidity), and in some markets, home prices are coming back up. That will improve as more people are employed, salaries go up, and the lower/middle classes buying power goes up.

Can you imagine how much better off we would be if the President's jobs bills had been passed, or even parts of those jobs bills? You can dislike the President, but look at the proposals and the independent analysis? There have been tons of things that could have been done but were not due to gridlock in Congress. Despite that, look how far we have come since the 2008/2009 economic crash.

You point to Massachussets, but is Candidate Mitt Romney the same person as Governor Romney? Republicans hated Governor Romney's liberal stances on things both economic and social; Obamacare was based on his policies. Republicans in the primaries did all they could to tar and feather Mitt's liberal performance in Mass.; Candidate Romney won the primaries because he ran to the right. All the successes he had in Mass. (47th out of 50 in job creation) were while he was a leftie liberool compared to today.

Me too, unfortunately. It gives me hope to know that even Republicans don't think their party represents them. Kick the bums and whackadoodles out, and elect reasonable people who want to solve problems. I'm sure the Democrats would be happy to work with people they disagreed with so long as work was getting done. This last Congress was a joke, and now they are planning on taking even more time off. They don't deserve their paychecks.

lol. While it's true that nobody speaks the truth 100% of the time, Romney is not even in the same area code as Obama.

In order to turn things around, you must first slow them down. There's no magic switch to flip and have everything be good instantly. Obama is the one who wants to put in place new programs to help people who are currently on welfare get trained and help them find a job so they aren't just taking our tax dollars any more. Romney won't even address this issue. He lives in a bubble of his money and thinks everything works for everyone else the same way it does for him. It doesn't.

You're wrong. I did give the man a chance. He was governor of my state for 4 years, so I'd say I have a little more experience with Mitt Romney than you. And let me tell you this, in his four years in Massachusetts, he did nothing but **** everything up. The only good thing he did was implement a program that made available and required all MA residents to buy healthcare. Pretty much the same exact program as Obamacare, which he's now against.

Yeah, then why didn't George W. Bush give the order during his 8 years? Obama was the only one who had the balls to give the order to send US troops into a foreign nation without their knowing to take out this guy.

This is irrelevant. Obama is the President, not Biden. He made the call, and Bin Laden is dead.

Better than the entire American auto industry going out of business. Would have cost us MILLIONS more jobs and had an even more severe impact in the economy.

You know, I try to keep this debate on here civil, but this is just ********. **** your "christian" beliefs. You know what's disgusting? You and other christians using some ********, fairy tale book to try to dictate and control other peoples lives and deny them what should be their civil right. That's disgusting, embarrassing, and un-American.

Medicare only applies to seniors over age 65. You clearly have no idea what you're even talking about. Obamacare requires health insurance companies (not the government) to offer affordable health care to all citizens, regardless of age and pre-existing conditions. I'm 24, recent college graduate, and still looking for a job. I can stay on my parents plan for another 2 years now because of Obamacare. My sister, who has a pre-existing condition, now doesn't have to worry because for the rest of her life she will now be able to get health care.

If you look past all the propaganda you've been force fed over the years and did some research in to the facts, you would see that there's nothing bad here. It's just a mandate that all people in this country are required to have health insurance. No different than the fact that you are required to have auto insurance when you register a car. Nobody is forcing a government plan on you. You are free to choose any plan from any private insurance company.

Look up the definition of socialism. Socialism is when the means of production and distribution is controlled by the community as a whole (government). As long as private companies are the ones providing the health care, it's not socialism. It can't be. It's the exact opposite of the definition.

It's $250,000, and it doesn't impose a crazy "heavy" tax on them. Our tax system is bracketed. Earning above $250,000 just moves you up a bracket, and I'd say is a fairly reasonable cut-off. You can sustain a more than adequate lifestyle on $250,000 a year, and you're going to be paying what... 0.5% more? I don't know the exact numbers off the top of my head, but for the sake of simple explanation let's say under $250,000 pays 25% income tax. $250,000-$500,000 would pay 25.5%, $500,000-$1,000,000 would pay 26%, and so on.

Makes alot more sense than our current system now which sees guys like Mitt Romney and Warren Buffet paying 13% while their secretary (no doubt making much less than $250,000 a year) paying upwards of 30%. This old system is what Romney wants to keep because it benefits himself and his rich friends. You think he gives a damn about people making less than $250,000 a year? His tax plan would raise their taxes while cutting his even more.

No he doesn't. If he did, he wouldn't be trying to cut or eliminate pell grants.

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/08/27/pell-grants-college-costs_n_1835081.html

"Ryan-Romney plans to cut Pell Grants by $850 per studental almost nixing President Barack Obama’s increase of $1,000. Decreased Pell Grants equal more student loans with high interest rates. That means most people will have more debt load while unemployed. If unemployed more than one year, you can’t pay bills, which prompts a decrease in credit scores. Employers could deny you a job because of long-term unemployment and bad credit scores. To date, the Romney-Ryan team has no jobs plan for the educated and unemployed, just economic prosperity for the one percent."

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs...981ae0c-f2ad-11e1-a612-3cfc842a6d89_blog.html

Romney wants to make education something that's only affordable to people with money. The more people there are in this country with less education, the more people they can try to brainwash into thinking the GOP is actually there to help the little guy.

This is the guy who said "if you don't have money for college, just ask to borrow it from your parents." How much more disconnected can you get?

    Really?

    http://www.cnn.com/2012/04/24/opinion/ledbetter-equal-pay/index.html
    http://nymag.com/daily/intel/2012/04/mitt-romneys-lilly-ledbetter-problem.html
    http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/...ter-Fair-Pay-Act-He-ll-get-back-to-us-on-that

If he REALLY supported women having equal rights and pay, he would come out and support the Lilly Ledbetter act. His refusal to do so speaks volumes.

Anyone trying to point to Massachusetts as some sort of success for Romney is clueless. Trust me, I've lived in this state since I was 6 years old. Like I said, the health care thing was the ONLY good thing Romney did for this state, and now he's flip-flopped and is against those same policies across the country just because they were introduced by the Democrats.

Deval Patrick could not have been more right when he said "As Governor, Mitt Romney was a lot more interested in having the job than DOING the job." He didn't give a damn about Massachusetts, the citizens of this state, or trying to fix anything. He just wanted to have the title of Governor because he knew it would look good on his resume when he was trying to run for President.

Though I thought Vanilla Ice was all out money at this point? I guess he's still too proud to get his handout from Obama. Or maybe he's sure he'll get back on top at some point?

Vanilla Ice was a very good artist in his time, but he got hooked up with MC Hammer's producers and they turned him into a characture of what he actually was. That being said, he now has parlayed his financial success from rapping into what he enjoys doing, flipping high end houses. From what I've seen on his show, he's doing fairly well.

You can laugh at the music that was turned out by his label, and you can laugh at how he was packaged, but if you knew his work before they turned him into a joke, you'd know you were wrong. (Compare that to Kidd Rock who is some kind of rock/country fusion artist today. His first album was a teen Vanilla Ice rip-off. It was epic!)
