    Why the fuss?
Not the prettiest couple, I grant you, but heh. The message is good. ;)

The other ads (US President Barack Obama kissing Chinese President Hu Jintao, and French President Nicolas Sarkozy with German Chancellor Angela Merkel) in the series are still being used.

LMFAO. That's amazing. I wish i were that artistic and creative. I doubt they will be able to block the image from being used. Then again, i don't know much about italian law.

Can you use someone's unauthorized image to advertise your product (for profit)? I ask because I don't know. For example, can I sell my new line of blue jeans with Obama's image and the word "UnJeans"?

The vatican does have a case. Although Benetton hasn't been relevant for years, that and their clothing sucks.

I'm surprised that Muslims haven't ordered the destruction of Benetton's offices. I feel like drawing Mohammed now too. :)

They're a cute couple, who wants to take bets on who's the pitcher and who's the catcher?

Isn't Italian law pretty picky about mischaracterizing or misrepresenting others? Like for instance the slander conviction of Amanda Knox (not commenting on her overall case, but more that the criteria for slander in Italy is broader than the US).

Anyway, clever ads. And the imam is cuter than the pope. He should quit complaining and be happy with what he got. ;)

Yeah the ads are two leaders of opposing ideals locked in a kiss. This doesn't strike me as gay or have anything to do with gay sex.

No, sometime in my youth I realized men kiss all the time for a myriad of reasons and only some of the reasons are homosexuality.

Don't even try. It could be a photo of the pope blowing the Imam, and you'd still get the same answer.

Thinking the same thing, but I recall that some cultures have the dual cheek kiss when meeting someone.

In some cultures it's even a kiss on the mouth, but definitely not in the Italian culture ;)

Doesn't strike me as gay either.

Likemyorbs, does this pic from the same campaign strike you as gay as well?

Umm.....yes. Are you guys blind or are you just playing dumb? And what point are you trying to make by showing me a different pic from the same campaign? I'm kinda baffled. If two men passionately kissing eachother on the lips doesn't strike you as gay then maybe i'm just getting old, but i'm only 22.

    Well

I have to say that this is another one of those threads could easily end in tears. Italians kiss each other all the time....I'm not well versed in the way's of the Catholic Church, but the message seems to be a damn sight better than the 9 year old kids we have in the UK (London mostly) carrying guns.

    Just my 2C worth

If you think its just gay then you're missing the point of the entire ad campaign.

Uh, no, and in the context of what we're talking about it doesn't make sense to ask the question. At the same time it seems you're asking me that as some sort of attack on my character? Why not just cut to the point and dish out some gay slurs.
