How can a technique in meditation lead to belief in a different religion? Must be that it leads to knowledge about nature revealed in Hinduism but attempted concealed by the Church.

Who would go to church if they could find better answers to their questions through meditation?
Who needs to go to church when you can find bliss wherever you are?

That is bloody ridiculous. It really makes them out as stupid as they are. I suppose that thinking it could be OK, but for the chief exorcist to open his mouth and say it !!! Where is Chucky when you need him?

"Hell" (or "Gehenna" as the original text says) was a landfill outside Jerusalem and my brother has actually been there once. In the old times, it was a symbol of total erasure and the cessation of existence. The ever-burning fires of Hinnom Valley (as in "eternal flames of hell") were kept alive by people throwing sulfur down on the flames.

The Church has stretched the meaning of "Gehenna" quite far - from being total wipeout to being eternal torture. I'm not sure when this happened, but I do have an idea about why. I think it has to do with the fact that many people don't care if they will never be reborn and go to Heaven. Actually, there are religions where the total cessation of existence is considered the highest form of salvation (i.e. better than Heaven). Not sure if this is the case in Hinduism, but in Buddhism, this is what they call "Nirvana".

Just like being a single male priest in a catholic church leads to child abuse.

It's not abuse when it's the priest who does it.

It's not abuse when a catholic priest rapes a 10 year old boy ?

Rocks aren't meant to be lived under. :)

    on topic :

Yoga doesn't lead to anything except whatever the individual gets out of it.

Hey, I'm just trying to see it from the Church's point of view, I'm not condoning anything - I'd never accept such actions.

In many cases, that can be bad enough for the Church.

I've never cared for the Catholic church very much.

They themselves lead to Satan/Evil/Bad things.

just an opinion mind you. :)

Statements like this is why the Vatican is losing relevance more and more with each passing day.

This guy would have looked smashing in a red cape.

And anything that keeps people away from any 'church' is viewed as bad for that institution.

Just look at t'ai chi ch'uan, and China.

Yoga is nowhere near fun or exciting enough to be satanic.

Everytime I hear a press release from the Vatican these days, I think that they and PETA must share a fax machine.
