I just replaced my new iphone 5 32gb at the Genius Bar today. I still had 2 weeks left for a refund but due to limited inventory I opted to get a replacement. It came in a white box and they said it was new. Week 38 my original was week 39. When I activated the replacement it asked me to select my carrier and then it said that by selecting it will lock my phone to that carrier. Did I lose the Verizon unlocked feature? Has anyone replaced their vzw iphone and had this issue ??

No, the verizon iphone 5 will never just lose its GSM unlock capability.

however, i do believe you lose the ability to return your phone once you get a replacement device.

Ok. I didn't know if these replacements were a universal batch that locks your carrier web activating or if they(replacement) were specifically made for each carrier. Just scared me when that pop up appeared when activating. Also, not sure if it is new or rebuilt. I checked chipmunk but I do not know what to look for to tell. You also can't add AppleCare to replacements, which sucks.
