I currently have and iPhone 4 and an iPad (and more, but irrelevant) on my share everything plan at Verizon. Verizon shows that I am eligible to upgrade both of them; however, I don't really want the iPhone 4 to be on a contract just in case I don't want to pay the $40 dollars a month at some point.

Is it possible for me to upgrade the iPad to an iPhone 5 and switch that to my 4? Then only my iPad will be on a two year contract, right?

If this is possible, it will leave me open to upgrade for the next iPhone, or whatever I get.
