Alright I have this .avi file that can't play in Quicktime. It says the file is DivX video and I need a codec. But I want to put it on iTunes which does not accept .avi much less DivX video. So how do I convert? I already tried QTAmateur to no avail. I can watch it in VLC, but I do not know how to export it using VLC. Any tips on the settings?

There's no need to convert the file :)

Install Perian
Open the movie in QuickTime
Go to File > Save As and choose 'Self-Referenced Movie' (it'll only be a few megabytes)
Add the new .mov file to iTunes and the whole movie will be playable

Argh. Perian did the same thing QTAmateru did. White screen, and not even sound. Now I'm trying VLC again and Quicktime with iPhone (M4v) encoding.
