Skip the first few minutes about his name if you want, rest of the video isn't like that. This guy has a good chance of becoming president? Not saluting the flag? Not wearing the pin? How is he suppose to lead a country he doesn't support or show loyalty to?

I'm glad that what you wear is what determines this country's future. These issues have been rehashed like a billion times already. Make that a billion + 1.

And we need over the top blind patriotism because......?

He wants to change the country for the better, if THAT isn't loving your country I don't know what is.

Sorry, but the beginning of the video makes it lose much of its credibility...

And I DO NOT GET this obsession with using gestures to measure a man's commitment to America. OK. You have a clip where he's not saluting the flag. OK. He didn't where a PIN. I didn't realize that we were all required to go around wearing PINS to show that we love this country.

I measure the fitness of a person to lead and his (or her) commitment to the country on actions. Obama has done nothing that would suggest that he is not completely committed to America. Now, you might disagree with his positions, and that's fine. Despite supporting him, I do recognize that he has considerable shortcomings in experience and approach, and have some problems with his policy positions. But arguing over whether major candidates for President are loyal to the country or not is a laughably weak place to start your discourse. Both McCain and Obama (and for that matter, Bush) are loyal to America, in any useful application of that word. The question is whether their loyalty manifests in ways that are positive for the country, and to what interests of the American populace they show the most loyalty and attention.

For instance, while I would not argue that President Bush is disloyal or a traitor in the most obvious sense of those words, I would contend that his interpretation and prioritization of America's interests are flawed and distorted, biased towards a very particular kind of ideological, personal, and political expediency. But again, calling him "disloyal" serves no real purpose.

If we do want to talk about commitment, I look for commitment not just to the symbols and rituals of the country, but also (and more) to the great American project. It is a commitment to the space for opportunity and expression and equity instead of sectarian divisions. It is a commitment to a belief in a political and social ideal, instead of to an ethnic identity or nationalist agenda. In my opinion, the Republican party has shown plenty of commitment to the show of America, but of late, it has shown far less to the substance.

I hope in this election we can all look for the substance--however we define it--and not make this serious decision on the basis of the show.

If this is all the Republicans have, then I'm not too worried about November. It's kind of sad actually.

Remember the beginning of Schindler's list where Oscar Schindler puts on his swastika lapel pin?

RE: the communist link. I don't think that really has much to do with Barack being a communist; having a band play that happens to be communist. But I do think some of his programs and ideas are gravitating towards a socialist view.

IMO, the things the video points out as well as the link I provided give me good enough reason to vote against Obama.

Because you've come on here to start controversy by spewing lies and completely inaccurate "facts", you're a troll.

Also, I suggest you learn what communism and socialism really are, because you calling Obama communist and socialist just makes you look like even more of an idiot.

Also, since John McBush.. err McCain doesn't wear a flag lapel pin either, who are you going to vote for?

Good for you. The fact that I care about real issues like the war, economy, healthcare, education, civil rights and foreign policy instead of crap like pissed off preachers and flag pins gives me good enough reason to vote for Obama.
