I want to view my CES pictures from my mac through my apple tv using airplay and as I do so the photo goes darker then it actually is.

Does anyone else have this issue or does anyone know why this would happen?

Are your TV and computer screen (I assume that's your reference point) properly calibrated to same standard?
TV brightness too low?

It works just fine from the phone, so not sure why it would be different coming from the mac.

The Mac is probably set to a different gamma than the other iOS devices. The Mac is set to display calibrated images on your monitor whereas the iOS devices and the Apple TV are expecting to be connected to a TV.
