VLC doesn’t mute Apple Music

Hi all,

Since I’ve installed VLC, if I’m listening to music, and then open a video, VLC doesn’t automatically mute the music, so I have both apps playing music.

I tried the tip in this link, but it doesn’t work.

Hmm, I just tried it, and after opening the video in VLC, it actually "stopped" iTunes from playing the song I was first listening to, and then played the video.

That’s how it normally works, yes. But for some reason mine doesn’t do it.

The more I think of it, while setting up, I remember that a window had popped up, and I’d accidentally clicked one of the options before getting to read it. No idea how to go back and see what it was though.

Yeah, when I did for the first song I played, and then for the first video I played, a smallish window popped up, and i honestly did not read it very closely. I clicked whatever choice looked like OK.

When I did it again, though, I did not see the window. Tried it twice more, but nothing.

Maybe if I turn off my machine, wait a few seconds, and then started it back up, I might be able to see what that window actually stated. I'll try that.

I’ve restarted multiple times. It never came back up.

Just tried after shutting off, then starting up again, but nothing. For that "setting" mentioned in that link you provided, I have it at its "default, which is "Pause iTunes / Spotify". I'll reset it to "Do Nothings", and see what happens.

OK, changing it to "Do Nothing" resulted in exactly that. That is, after starting up iTunes and selecting (and starting to play) a song, I started VLC, selected a Video, and started it. The song in iTunes kept playing, with sound.
