It's probably 3G or edge. LTE had many many bands globally.

There's no publicly available LTE/4G here in the UK and probably won't be for another year.

Would that affect the prices for international roaming voice and data rates?

We won't know if the iPhone 5 will have global LTE because apple has yet to release the specs or unveil the iPhone 5. Any such discussion is pure speculation.

They have a history of finding excuses not to support the latest wireless standards.

Not if they don't have a gsm radio on board. Software update can't magically make hardware appear.

And this "rumor" is being passed around from an unrealible source "claiming" they received an email from Verizon. Funny how no other tech site got this email. It is more likely that these sites are spreading rumors based on Verizons FCC filing for a world phone.

In other words, believe it when Verizon says so.

All Galaxy S3 use the same qualcomm radio, MSM8960.

Every single EDGE, GSM,CMDA, LTE frequency is built into this single qualcomm chip. A software update will enable the radios!

No way it will be global LTE. In order for that to be the case, it would require either a hexaband or septaband LTE radio.

The Qualcomm MSM8960 SOC supports World Mode LTE. ;)
It's a simple matter of a firmware update to enable/disable features.

You have severe reading comprehension issues.
Everyone of those links to Qualcomm's datasheets explicitly states Global LTE support for FDD and TDD LTE as well as CAT 3.

The North American version of the SGS3 ships with the MSM8960 SOC.
There is only one MSM8960 SOC and it can do everything listed in the datasheet.
Enabling the Global LTE features is a simple matter of a software update.
So if Verizon, or any other carrier for that matter, decides to enable that feature, they can.
It's built into the radio. It cannot be removed, only enabled or disabled.

It just like the MSM8260 in the T989 GS2 on T-Mobile USA.
It actually supports both AWS HSDPA+ and LTE, but LTE is disabled by default. Many users have been able to flash the I272 (GS2 Skyrocket) radio from AT&T in the T989 and use it on AT&T's LTE network. You can do the same in reverse too. Flash the I727 with the T989 radio firmware and viola... it works on T-Mobile USA's AWS HSPA+ bands.

I guess I do. Here's a copy/paste word for word from your first link:

If you can show point out where it says it has FDD, TDD, and CAT 3 for global LTE I'd like to know.

I simply called out your claim that has yet to be substantiated. I'm sure you would love everyone to roll over and accept what you say as fact but that's just not gonna happen ;)
