A family member of mine recently got the iPhone 5 on Verizon. I have the iPhone 4 (awaiting shipment of 5 from Apple).

For me, the LTE is the biggest feature as it will hopefully stop dropping calls due to low signal and actually give me faster speed (I get max 2 bars where I live).

I turned off wifi at home and ran speed tests on both phones side by side.

iPhone 5: 19.65Mbps
iPhone 4: 0.77Mbps

Both had 2 bars but the iPhone 5 said LTE where as the iPhone 4 has the 3G symbol.

Yea, I’ll be upgrading alright!

FYI, calls still go out over Verizon's old CDMA network. Only data is handled by LTE (where available).

the bars on the 4 represent the CDMA signal, not 3G. the bars on the 5 represent LTE so you still might drop calls.

Just remember... where there isn't LTE, you'll have those 3G speeds. I personally rather have good HSPA+ speeds and LTE.

I say this because I'm in central jersey and verizon advertises LTE in so many places where I know its not.
