Did yesterday mark the day of the iPod Touch 3rd generation, or was yesterday's release - the fall 2009 version that may get updated with the notorious camera/video/mic capabilities at a later date?

The ipod touch is a better platform for a camera. Come on apple, the Nano... really! 3G touch in early 2010!

What? The 8GB didn't really get updated, the 32/64GB versions were given a better processor and voice control capabilities.

c'mon, thegoldenmackid - I am not talking about the 8GB?

You know very well what I am getting it... don't be that guy!

Is the 32/64GB the 3rd gen Touch that was released on the 9th of September?

uh, u forgot the option, that this "new" ipod touch, is considered a 2nd generation, still

I am assuming you voted for either the first or second option in the poll... The top two options would indicate that is not the 3rd gen, so call it the Fall 2009 version or the 2nd gen version - whatever floats your boat :p

I am so lost...

This is the 3rd Generation iPod Touch, there might be a 3.5. I would have voted for the "This is the third generation..." But, saying "never" is a bad idea.

I believe that Apple considers it to still be 2nd generation. This is really no different to the Mac Mini upgrade a few years ago, where Apple upped the processor speed (and a couple of other components) but made no other "real" changes.

I voted first one, but even if one comes with a camera, I won't feel as if I missed anything, because I really won't need it or use any of the apps, the ONLY way I will feel bad is if they make an app than could make it be used as an Xbox Live Vision Camera or something.

for video chatting you might get 1 or 2 frames a second, and you would hav eto put it in a dock that holds it 90% and mess around with the positioning, that'd be so annoying.

i got my vision cam for literally 11$ shipped on eBay. quality is horrible though
