My watch 7 was originally paired to 12Pro Max on 15.3 with watchOS 8.7.

I upgraded to 14ProMax and used “ transfer all data “ from 12ProMax to 14 ProMax via setup options offered when you have the 2 phones next to each in the upgrade process. Literally everything transferred over-apps data etc

The Watch 7 on 8.7 was paired to the phone and worked. The watch was unpaired automatically from the 12ProMax in the process.

I then updated as recommended by Apple for activation issues to iOS 16.0.1

I currently have 14ProMax on 16.0.1 paired with my watch 7 on watchOS 8.7.

I go to software update on watch or iPhone to try to update to watchOS 9 and get message I can’t update the watch because my phone needs to be on the latest iOS software.

I unpaired the watch 7 and repaired to 14 Pro Max and issue persists.

I am at a loss as what I should do. Any thoughts?

I was told it’s a software issue. Yay 🤦🏻‍♂️. Wonder if we see a 16.0.2 to fix issues like this

Yes

I had been jailbroken on iOS 14.3, but I tried to update to iOS 15.1.1 and it failed with futurerestore. So I had to upgrade to 15.3 release candidate that’s what I was on with my 12 pro max. Yes, I have been using the Legizmo when I was jailbroken. But I had no issues updating watch 7 on watch OS 8 all the way up to 8.7.
I had considered there might be a remnant from Legizmo.
I can’t recall but I thought I erased all setting and data once on 15.3 RC

I have given a lot of thought about doing an erase all content and settings on the 14 promax and setting up as new. But the thought of this makes me want to puke. I’m worried I’d have to go through the eSIM activation again and it was a pain with Verizon.

Did you happen to use native method on Legizmo? Apparently it stays in the backup.
This error message about not being on the right iOS software in theory should’ve happened when I was on iOS 15 since you would’ve thought, it still would’ve looked like I was on iOS 14 if the Legizmo was the issue. At least that’s what I thought

But it’s looking like I could wrong.

Did you use Legizmo

Yes, That’s how I found out. On their discord.

Oh so this issue has been reported on Legizmo discord? Crap. Any solutions suggested? I will need to go there, what channel?
Thx by the way

I found your post. I have been a Patreon twice. I am asking if an erase all content and setting and restore as new will work.
Ugh
