Which one will be the fastest?
Or will the 500Gb (4500rpm) be better then both others?
Considering all drives are from Western Digital, but on their website specifications of all drives are the same, so I'm asking your opinions...

the 4500 drives have 8Mb cache and the 7200 has 16Mb cache...

    Thanks

The 320 GB with 7200 rounds per minute should be the fastest, as the platters make more rounds per minute.
And the 16 MB cache is also a big plus.

But the 320 GB will be louder, maybe, I don't know the specs.

If speed is all that you are looking for then go with the 320 7k. The 500 5k would be nice but the speed improvements on the 320 along with the density will make it the winner AFAIK. The only drawback will be battery life.

I know a HDD now it all with post a link to drive specs in no time, so you will have your definite answer soon.

Yeah, I was thinking the same, but I read comments about the 500Gb drives being faster because they had more capacity on the same surface of the platter.

Also following WD their 7200 drives should be using the same amount of energie as the 4500's.

    Power Dissipation 320(4500)
    Read/Write 2.50 Watts
    Idle 0.85 Watts
    Standby 0.25 Watts
    Sleep 0.10 Watts

    Power Dissipation 320(7200)
    Read/Write 2.50 Watts
    Idle 0.85 Watts
    Standby 0.25 Watts
    Sleep 0.15 Watts

Also the 7200 makes 2dB less noise running idle and 1dB more noise when operating.
