I have a WD MY PASSPORT external hard drive when I bought the drive I was running sierra. When I bought it, I set up a password on it and set it to auto-unlock on my current MacBook. After upgrading to high sierra, the drive isn't auto-unlocking and is now requesting a password. Which of course I have forgotten, is there anyway to retrieve this password? Really need to access this drive.

It might be in your Keychain. Then just use your master password to see what it was.
