    Hi guys,

This is to request help in the following matter:

I'm in the US, with a PC (recent cpu, Windows XP pro).
My family's in Europe, with a Mac (recent cpu, OS 10.2.6).

We're thinking of communicating via webcams, but here are our concerns:

    1. What is the easiest way for us to do this? Can we just use iChat on OSX? if yes, what program should we use on the PC? Is there a better way to do it?

    2. If we have high speed internet (they have ADSL... and me a 100 Mo Backbone :D) how is the quality going to be like? Will we be able to both speak and see eachother with a reasonnable quality (without too high a delay)?

Thx in advance for your help,

Well Jeronimo there is a ton of posts and questions on this forum about this topic. Use a search and you'll get all the results you need. But my own opinion on the matter is this:

ichat has no compatibility at this time with the M$ version of aol.

Yahoo messenger will work, but the fps is horrible.

ispq video chat is another option, but I would suggest using ivisit.

As far as your connection, you should be fine. And for the mac, it doesn't get any better than an isight ;)

    Thx for your answer.

I'll try to find these post then. If not, I'll go for iVisit.

Yahoo Messenger: use only if you can read lips because there is no sound on the Mac version.

iVisit is an horrible piece of software but you might get some (reasonnable results).

OhphoneX is nice but best is Marratech from experience

Yeah, the sound seems to be a problem.

iVisit works with my friends on PCs (although not as well as MSN messenger, as for the image quality :( ) but with my family on mac, I get no sound from them... although their webcam has a mic... maybe they would need an independent mic? any idea on this?
