I’m looking to switch over from Windows to Mac but I still would like to use my ancient USB audio recording devices with my laptop, so I’m looking for a 2015 or earlier MacBook Pro that still has USB ports.

So far the fastest processor I’ve been able to find in a Macbook is the I7-4980HQ in the mid-2014 and mid-2015 which has an average Geekbench multi-core score between 13,000-14,000- which is quite impressive especially since those Macbooks are selling for <$1,000 on eBay.

Do you know of any other faster processors on MacBooks with USB ports?

If you want raw CPU speed, then the 2015 13 inch MBP has 3.1 Ghz dual-core processors but turbo boost is only up to 3.4 Ghz. If you want the best performance, get the 2.8 Ghz 2015 with the discrete CPU. If you can partition your work, then get two of the 2015 15 inch 2.8 Ghz/AMD Graphics systems.

I don't know what your budget is but don't limit yourself on just the USB ports. Buy a USB A to C adapter and you can connect everything you want on a 2016- MacBook Pro without any problems. They are dead cheap so you can buy a handful and plug them on, on every device you own. I sometimes use my old MacBook Pro with the 2 USBs and I can't understand how I was living with those limitations.
For reference, these are the adaptors I bought 8 months ago and connected just about everything without any issues.

I have a USB C to 4xUSB-A adapter from Amazon for my 2018 Mini - works just fine. My daughter uses one for her Asus ROG laptop. So you could go the dongle route. Max CPU is probably on the 2018 if your software is multithreaded.

The fastest previous generation MBP is the Mid 2015 with 4980HQ 2.8GHz. Look for part number MJLT2LL/A. It's going to have a faster SSD than the 2014.
