What’s your lowest heart rate reading while sleeping?

    I’ve been tracking my sleeping heart rate for months. Last night I got a reading of 30. Normally my low is 62. Anybody else experience this? Is it a glitch? I’m using the current generation 3 watch.

    Chalk it up to a glitch, unless you have a medical condition. If it continues, try a different arm or watch. If you still see 30, consult your doctor.

    I am a well-conditioned athlete and the lowest I go when resting is 40 (watching t.v.) I have never seen it under 40 even when sleeping.

    Probably a glitch. Was it just a single blip that dropped to 30? What were the readings just before and after the 30?

    My wife's heart rate often goes to 33 at night sleeping but only for very short periods of time - and she's not in shape at all (neither am I - though the lowest mine goes is like 62-66).

    If accurate (which it may not be) and she is not an EXTREMELY conditioned athlete (near Olympic caliber) it is likely the sign a medical condition. She should probably see a cardiologist and have it checked.

    She's had a cardiologist look at her heart (way before we got the Apple Watch) - she's been diagnosed with Wolff-Parkinson-White (WPW) syndrome. She says it's pretty rare for it to be 30bpm. https://familydoctor.org/condition/wolff-parkinson-white-syndrome/

    Maybe we should go back with the AW results? :)

    I run a lot and over the last year mine has dropped to the low 40ties all night. I will see an occasional mid 30ties but not on a regular basis. I’d chalk that one number up to an error, the other day for 1 minute mine hit 210 without me even being active at that time. I’d just ran a hilly half marathon and the max was 194. These things are not perfect all the time.

    I’m in the high thirties or low forties while sleeping. It’s 42 as I sit here on the sofa.

    I'm about 50-60 when I sleep. I guess, it's quite normal.

    62 but I have a pacemaker that is set for 62 and seems to be doing it's job, during annual testing when the momentarily turn the pacemaker off my heartbeat is 35

    Average is 33 - 37. Resting is 55ish. Do not think I have ever hit 29 or less.

    It might be interesting to measure but I've never installed an app for it because I want a couple of training sessions recorded per day and a whole day battery life.

    I'm 50 years old and my resting heart rate is normally around 40 and has been close to that most of my life my life. I've seen it as low as 32 a few times recently when taking BP readings or doing breaths in response to the watch (pulse read on Withings BPM and AW around 32-34).

    I had an ECG recently because my Dr thought that was wrong. The ECG measured 42 (right after having blood tests as well and a walk).. the results were that the graph shape was perfectly normal and just slow.

    I really wonder what a sleep recording might show.

    It’s hard to say really. I used to do a lot of martial arts, then a fair amount of rock climbing but not a lot of anything but work (non manual) for about 15 years and thought myself fairly overweight and unfit with high blood pressure. Started swimming about August last year then started running in December and have lost about 20lbs since and think I’m a respectable weight and fitness level for my age.

    I never ran before but do about 3.6k 3 times a week (with some 5 and occasional 10k runs) now and swim 2.5k 2 to 3 times a week too. Otherwise I fill my exercise rings with walking.

    Go see your doctor. Mine showed an at rest heartrate in the 30’s also... went to see my Cardiologist and left with a brand new pacemaker to go along with that shiny watch! This was 9 weeks ago. I’m only 33... not overweight at all. Seemingly healthy....until I wasn’t. Now my AW shows a nice resting rate of 60 BPM. 50’s while I’m asleep sometimes.

    Best bet is to know for sure! That’s the best free advice I have!

    My resting HR is usually 40-42. Occasionally I will get down in the high 30s while sleeping. However the AW heart rate readings are VERY flaky. I did a test with a Polar chest strap HR monitor and the results showed that about 1/3 of the AW HR readings are suspect. Generally, if your AW HR results make sense, they are probably correct. If they look weird, or like outliers, they are probably bogus.

    FWIW, I'mm 48, 175 lbs and have a sleeping HR of 54. I think that is about right.

    Walking the dogs it goes up to about 120, fast walking in the treadmill about 140. It takes about 2 mins to get back to a steady 68/70.

    Think that is normal...30 is really low, but I am not a doctor. As others have said it would be worth seeing a doc.

    How are you reading while sleeping? That's impressive. I can only do audio books while sleeping.

    Mine goes into the 50s...but if you are usually in the 60s, all of my apple watches including series 3 have had issues where it will detect half the beats for a few seconds. How long does it show the 30 was happening?
