What are the chances for Siri to come to iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad in iOS 5.1?

So we all know Apple will announce the new iPad sometime in like late feb or early march. Assuming that Apple also announces iOS 5.1 in that event what are the chances that iOS 5.1 would allow older iOS devices to get Siri? The iPad 3 has a very good chance that it will get Siri and iOS 5.1 beta users have found the Siri dictation privacy thing.

Do you think that iOS 5.1 will bring Siri support for other devices like iPhone 4, iPod Touch 4th gen, iPad 1, 2?

Looking at Apple's past history of older devices getting newer devices' exclusive features, the oldest device to legitimately get Siri will be the iPhone 4S.

Unlikely. It's the main selling point of the 4S. Perhaps when iPhone 5 comes out, it may happen but doubtful.

I'm still waiting for iCloud on Snow Leopard...

Any answer you get is going to be opinion (unless we have people leaking info they are not supposed to). That said, no chance. My strongest "evidence" is that fact that just about every iPhone 4S commercial is actually a Siri commercial.

    I agree.

Evi has now been fixed and is being called a very close clone to the siri app, although the integration at moment is not the same depth of siri, but maybe with updates to come this will change.

I'm sure apps like evi will make apple take note as evi becomes more refined and makes current iPhone 4 owners pause before updating to the iPhone 4s.

My colleagues who currently own the iPhone 4s are telling me not to update purely for siri as she is experiencing operating issues.

We all know at the moment hackers are very close to allowing siri onto a jb iPhone 4.

Its good that app developers have realised people would like a siri clone and are spending time on developing options.

If it comes to other devices at all, I think it will come with new hardware (ie: iPad 3 will get Siri). However it may stay iPhone exclusive, as Siri is a big part of the iPhone 4S's sales pitches.

    What's your proof?

If you're talking about the articles i think you are, yes it would allow siri on a iPhone 4, but you still need a unique 4s "token" or "key" (i forgot what exactly it was called) in order for the 4 to access Apple's servers.

Which means you either fake one, which i doubt will be very easy, if possible at all, or buy a 4s and just use the one that came with that... but then you have a 4s anyways...

5.1 is far enough along in beta that if it were coming to other devices the code would already have to be there for developer testing. We would already know if it were coming to any non-4S device.

No chance. One of the main selling points of the iPhone 4S is Siri, and it would make much less sense for someone to buy a 4S over a iPhone 4

I was keeping an eye in certain blogs and forums which were buzzing with this development.

Earlier in the month they had been able to port Siri over but would not launch.

They then were going thro an iPhone 4s software to break it and we're close and more recently saw the actual procedure in how to achieve it.

I'm happy to read you completed the process.

Is the cracked Siri working seamlessly on your device ?

Just do a google search for "IZMDL Siri proxy" and you'll find out all about it. Very easy to do. Works great most of the time. There are some moments when the servers are down but it's rare and works very well.

Now I can hold off and wait for the iPhone 5. :D
