I just went into my Pictures folder and I am finding folders in there that I am not familiar with. As an example, there is a folder named 2016 and inside it there is a subfolder containing .JPG files that is named 2016-01-11. There is also a folder named 2015 with 5 other subfolders with similar naming conventions. Is this something that the Photos program does? Does it place folders inside of the Photos folder like this after they are imported into the program?

    Thanks.

Photos would not do that. All the images in Photos would be stored inside the Photos library package in the Pictures folder.

I do use Lightroom, though I always import photos after copying them to a drive. I do remember a few times that it accidentally somehow imported photos directly from the SD card and I never knew where they were. Is this what LR does if it imports photos directly from the SD card?

    Thanks.
