If u ain't got a itunes store account?
Like are there any free apps/games that I can download?
Or some modifications that I can do to it?

Thanks in advance.

You can get an account with an iTunes gift card.
When you have like $0.87 left you can still buy free stuff.

Get an account by either using a gift card (Easily purchased around in supermarkets and retailers like Best Buy) or use a credit card to create an account. Afterwards use that gift card or credit card to upgrade your iPod Touch software to 2.2 (10 bucks) and you are free to download any application you want.

Why would he have to pay to upgrade his 2G iPod touch to 2.2?
If he got it recently it comes shipped with 2.2, and before that it was shipped with 2.1.1 which you can upgrade to 2.2 for free.

Ok, replace "buy" with "download."

Google + iTunes without credit card

itunes gift cards can only be used on accounts in teh country they are sold in

you buy them at shops but they will only work on UK registered accounts for UK bought cards.

best option is to use paypal to send them the cash...

Apple still treats it as though you're 'buying' it, even though it's marked 'free', it shows up in your account as a purchase (for $0.00) and you get an invoice. They definitely treat it differently than a simple download. Must be a bookkeeping thing. Does seem weird to me.

I didnt have to pay for the update on the 2g I just got. But I would like to know if there is a max amount of free apps you can download, as I can only view the first 50 in the store? I do not like to buy software and have only actually paid for one app for $0.99 just to try it out.

You may only be able to view 50 on the device, but you can see them all on the iTunes Music Store on your computer. You can download as many free apps as you want to your computer, but the iPod Touch (and the iPhone) can only have 148 apps (9 screens of 16 apps plus 4 in the dock) on it at a time at present. If you have more on your computer you'll have to choose which ones to sync.
