For me 4k streaming would get me to pre order.

App Store... Eh maybe.

How bout for you what killer feature will get you to upgrade?

App store, faster processor, lots more memory, 99 dollar price tag, Amazon Prime support, voice support on the remote. If not, I'll just get an Xbox One and have the best app support.

I just bought an apple TV a month ago when I noticed the price was dropped to $69 dollars. I'm ecstatic with it. Outside of forums you really don't hear anything about Apple TV. I wasn't expecting much but the product is classic Apple. I bought it thinking "why not" but it's turned out to be one of my favorite gadgets. I watch more stuff on the Apple TV than I watch on my expensive monthly directv cable package. For me to upgrade it'd take a a7-a8 processor, app store, siri, and maybe a subscription television service which I imagine would be available to preexisting devices. Quite content with the current one but if it's 99 or less i'll upgrade.

Introduce one and I'll buy.

Yeah Apple pretty much has me at new:D

But I would love cable box pass through with DVR storage, they could offer 3 models with different storage like ipad/iPhone.
Something like this would be nice, a TB model would be great, but 500gb is probably pushing it.

64gb $125
256gb $250
500gb $350

Better UI and a SDK so we can get more apps like those available on other iOS devices.

I just want an App Store so that everyone making TV station apps will finally get an app on Apple tvs. Drives me nuts I have to air play things like the pac12 network.... Starz... Etc...

I'm torn because I have been getting into xbmc again and things like the fire or even building a cheap pc are getting tempting.

Also unless they really innovate most features will be redundant with my Apple TV 3, ps4, smart tv, chrome cast etc.

My best guess is that it will be a App Store, and previous generations will be locked out.

They would need to include DTS audio and maybe a naitive Plex app (altough plexconnect works great). I have no big hopes for either tough as i these additions has more to do with using the Atv as a generic streaming device as opposed to the current use as a storefront for other business. Maybe if hell froze over again...

I must have already gotten that update, because compared to the other streaming devices on the market, my ATV runs like garbage.

Odd. Mine is working fine. I use it mainly to watch Netflix-- although I sometimes watch a PBS show that I missed from OTA broadcast. A few years ago, I was deciding between ATV and Roku. I helped my neighbor set up the Roku, but, they made it difficult or impossible (hard to say which) to activate the device without giving Roku your credit card. (Do they still do that?) So, I went with ATV for myself. But, I don't like the squishy Roku remote, either.

I agree. I really don't understand how people tolerate Roku at all. It's so great on paper, but then the experience is totally ruined by the clunky setup and terrible remote. Not only is squishy, as you say, it also doesn't register the button presses 20% of the time for me.

Unlike computers, I judge TV devices by how well a lay person with no patience for tech can use it. I usually picture my grandma using it. Roku gets an D+ in that test. AppleTV gets a C+ in that test.
