I would lose the wallpaper BG.

And can I have the number of the lady on the homepage?

She is H.A.W.T.

Giving it two hours for a comment is not enough time. Be more patient.

The site is decent enough and not bad on my eyes.

Here are some comments that I hope are helpful:

  • I think the choice of decorative font could be better. Hobby was overused in the late 90's and it makes the site look dated. It also makes the Doctor's name hard to make out.
  • While I like the contrast between the aqua and the orange, the aqua background is a bit much. Maybe something a bit subtler but with a slightly more saturated shade of the aqua.
  • The text under the photo bleeds over the right edge of the photo, which imbalances things a bit. I'd make sure that the text does not extend past the right edge of the photo.
  • I think that there's a bit too much of the orange - it causes it to lose impact. I'd consider changing the sub-headers in the main body to a dark aqua that matches the hue of the background.
  • The length of "Wednesday" causes the times to misalign with the others.
  • I'd consider centering the footer text.
  • If possible, retouch the photo to fix the blown-out sky. *

* I otherwise love the photo. So much better than the typical posed studio shot with plastic smiles and frightened-looking children.

I think you've got the right idea by going for a warm and welcoming feel than a sterile one. But I think at the moment you're on the wrong side of funky - maybe reel it in a bit, give it some professional touches to inspire confidence. Fonts, and that background would be good things to work on.

I like the icon, very appropriate, nice feel to it :)

imho, I would go for warmer colors.

I find the high contrast white/orange to be very agitating...

I would do some google reserach, were I you, on the psychological effects of the color orange.

It is a color often associated with cheap advertising & fast-food. However, it is also associated as an organic & warm color. However, in stark combo with white...I think of the harsh glare of hospitals..something that no patient ever wants to think about.

As a patient, I would feel "warmer" or "safer" towards the practice if the colors were more muted...a little earthier & "safer."

also, the font is wrong. It conveys a lack of seriousness and, by extension, a lack of safety.

Otherwise, your layout is great....clean & simple. The photo of the family is excellent. Why not bring in more of those organic colors to the rest of the site?

in regard to verbiage:

OP has written:

Eat smaller meals more frequently

edit: Eat smaller portions throughout the day rather than 3 big meals.

Get smaller portions when dining out or pack half to go

edit: Restaurants often serve more than you need. Order less, or take some food home to share with others, or for a snack the next day.

Go for daily morning walks or runs

edit: Enjoy a daily walk or run. (people stress out when given limitations like "morning" or "evening" etc.)

Drink water throughout the day to keep yourself hydrated and keep you feeling full

edit: Drink sufficient water to stay hydrated. Often, when we are hungry, we are actually just thirsty.

Eat greens and limit the sugars

edit: Want a healthy snack? Try some greens & avoid sugary treats.

Eat more fiber

edit: perfect as is

Enjoy life

edit: excellently written :)

ps: I'm a trained nutritional consultant, so I'm not just pulling my suggestions to the above verbiage out of thin air.

Nice job OP especially with the changes. Here is something you may want to add:

- Link the insurance logos to their respective websites (You would need to make each logo a image by itself and not one mass image).
- Maybe a quick background bio page with Dr. Yaqub picture and maybe include the office. This lets the viewer see the doctor, have a brief history and see the office You could also include any professional organizations he may be a member of with California or the local Universities/Hospitals.

Hope this helps.

1. Bio on provider next to head shot
2. Ages served (not all FP's see babies)
3. PDF's of intake forms patients can download and fill out prior to clinic visit ( a real time-saver)
4. Links to trusted info sites (e.g. AAFP, AAP, CDC, etc.)
5. Clinic photo/staff group shot with all looking friendly

my 1.2 cents

Clean.

A tad too much white space in the top graphic? Maybe lose 1/3 of it and tighten the site up a bit.

A little more contrast in the button colors perhaps will highlight them a bit more. Text is too light to read comfortably. Set left makes it look like there's a design issue. COnsider centering them or changing how that line of links is presented.

Phone, Address, Clinic Hours looks too sterile. White space is good, too much and it looks barren.

Box color is too glaringly orangish. needs to be a softer organic.

The dots have to go. That's so 1995.
:)

Insurance icons look too cartoonish. Maybe consider making them smaller with text titles.

Under Services... much more what exactly?

Not too crazy about a "Specials" button. maybe highlight that on the first page itself, but not too overpowering.

A little more creativity with the main picture on the home page. While the picture is nice, it just looks plunked down. Overall balance is nice though.

Instead of critiquing the site I thought a much better idea would be to post dumb client suggestion that I've bee emailed before.

1) Make it more webbish.

2) You make a massive mistake, you make it on a Mac most people use Windows. Please create it on a Windows machine.

3) The blue it too winter morning not late summer afternoon, can you change it?

4) There's too much whitespace, can you fill it it with google ads.

5) It needs a dropshadow.

6) I showed it to my kids, they didn't understand it.

7) I thought the whole point of freelance is because it's FREE!

8) If we reduce the size of the font can we get a discount.

But overall I think you've got a very nice site there, it's easy to read with a pretty nice colour choice.

Nice work!

Site looks really good, feels very professional and "Doctor-esque".

Agreed on the Captcha. Gotta have it, unless you want your Doctor friend getting 50 emails a day from knock-off viagra distributors ;)

I have 1280x1024 and it fits ok on the width and the height is like.....a small scroll. I would see if you can make it fit for us 1280x1024'ers...

I'm no expert, just so you know. Take my comments lightly..haha. But it seems odd that it would be just a small scroll, guess you can't please every res out there!
