It seems just a few weeks ago politicians, celebrities, and even the FLOTUS where all over social media about this issue.

Then came Gaza and along with Gaza came a new opportunity for outrage and umbrage.

Now we're bombing the Islamic State and Gaza is so last week's news.

So what did #BringBackOurGirls achieve? Well, Boko Harum learned how easy it is to get the attention of Western celebrities, pundits, and politicians, so they stepped-up their kidnappings of foreigners. (What they have yet to learn is that our attention spans are measured in days, if not hours.) Besides that, not much. International effort to find the girls has waned, Obama just welcomed the hapless, do-nothing leader of Nigeria to the White House, and it's almost football season here in America.

Gaza is still the #2 story on the BBC UK website after the Iraq stuff at #1. Ukraine is the #4 story.

As of August 5, I think they're still working on it.

Most western celebrities think that they can twitter their current cause.

Most don't have the conviction to back it up, just look at Rihanna's tweet to "Free Gaza" within minutes it was deleted, might damage record sales.

I agree. It's a shame to think that they feel the need to censure their true feelings about world events, but then considering the hole Joan Rivers is currently digging for herself, perhaps it's for the best.

Also #Kony2012 (mods, that totally contributed towards the conversation before )

People got bored with it and moved on to the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.

    15 minute activism!
