Hey everyone,
Basically I didn’t really understand what happens in the following situation:
I put an airtag in a backpack and leave it for a few days at my home (or e.g. a friends house). Will airtag alert the others or will it make noise because it isn’t with me anymore?

thank you!

How do you mean? What happens for example if someone in the house moves the item just from one table to another?
Assuming that the Airtag is connected to your iPhone, and assuming additionally that you have said iPhone with you, using precision finding you will of course be able to locate the second table. Easily. 😎

Op - if the AirTag is away from you for 3 days (hasn't made contact with the iPhone of its owner) then it will start intermittently chirping, trying to be found. Rumour is, it will do this when it's moved.

My question exactly, how will the airtag know? Apple cant expect me to carry all the "tagged" items with me all the time. I will obviously keep some of them at home and of course it can be moved by other family members. I suppose, there has to be an option of stop tracking a particular airtag, as required.

The airtag communicates with your phone over bluetooth. If it hasn't made a connection in 3 days, it has the logic built in to start this behaviour, to try to be found.

I asked this a couple weeks ago. The answer is, nothing as long as it doesn't move so place it somewhere it won't get moved.
