For reasons not related to HomeKit it looks like I may need to restore my iPhone and set up as new. Does anyone know if HomeKit settings and automations are stored in the cloud? I really don’t feel like setting this all up again.

They are stored as part of your iCloud account assuming you’ve got it turned on on your phone, and will restore back when you sign in to your device.

A good app to have is “Controller” for HomeKit. You can actually save backups of your HomeKit setup. Huge when it goes haywire and you need to start over. Used it twice in the past. Priceless.

I see you need the pro version for this. Does it "export" the backup to the Home app if needed, or do you have to use it from Controller?

Also, do you use Controller (or another 3rd party app) for setting up and maintaining automations, or Home?

It saves the backup in Controller and the iCloud Drive Files app.

I haven’t played around much with the automations in Controller but from what I remember, it wasn’t really user friendly. I primarily use the Eve app or Home+ 4 for automations that the Home app can’t handle but I’m gonna play around some more.

How much is the “in app purchase” for Controller? It isn’t mentioned on the Developer website that i can see.
If you go to the app and scroll down to in app purchases, it lists it. Pricey for an app but my wife spends more than that on one Starbucks trip lol.
